The Who mit Roger Daltry (v), Pete Townsend (g), John Entwistle (b) und Keith Moon (d) live im Marquee Club in London am 11.03.1967.As one of the most celebrated, covered and referenced songs in rock history, My Generation also presaged the heavy metal and punk rock movement. Pete Townsend wrote the song on his twentieth birthday while riding on a train and never thought that the song will become the hymn of the British mod subculture. In 2004 the Rolling Stone magazine named it the 11th greatest song in their "500 Songs Of All Time"-list.

May 18, 2012 - So what are your thoughts on Vangelis?
mutantformula Says:
May 18, 2012 - There's still some great music out there (2000-2010+ although not as such, plus you have to search for it at times), even though it doesn't compare to the likes of the generations you've mentioned.COMPLETELY agree with you about the 80's. That's my favourite music decade, but I love older music as well, nonetheless.
aceNdiamond Says:
May 18, 2012 - A real musician.
AirWaterLandBuffalo Says:
May 18, 2012 - Yet he almost entirely used electronic instruments to convey what he wanted. For every rubbish electro-dance-crap you can find now (see: Skrillex), there's people who put those same electronic instruments to great use (see: Faunts, M4 pt 1 is you want a specific example).
Sefco26 Says:
May 18, 2012 - i think The Who are better than Beatles
aceNdiamond Says:
May 18, 2012 - You didn't understand what i meant
downwithjedward Says:

jhanoflix Says:
May 20, 2012 - I just love the way Keith plays with such wild abandon!
SmellyGreenShit13 Says:
May 20, 2012 - For this just-gone decade people will remember Coldplay, David Guetta, Rihanna...That's not exactly what I call "good music" you know... Actually poeple doesn't remember good music, people juste remember the songs that were played on the radio
AirWaterLandBuffalo Says:
May 20, 2012 - Au contraire - I like Coldplay, and I'm actually hoping they're remembered.
AirWaterLandBuffalo Says:
May 20, 2012 - I expect we shall also remember awesome bands like Muse.
ThisMortalCoil64 Says:
May 20, 2012 - Wait, why is everyone on this song talking about how music today is all garbage and it used to be better back in the day? On THIS song? Seriously, can you even breathe through all that irony? Yeah, okay, there's shit out there today, but there's awesome music here too, all over the place. I mean, I'm not saying that The Who don't deserve veneration - but I'm talking about MY generation.
kg132465 Says:
May 21, 2012 - awesome music comes from every generation but nobody hears the new cool stuff that comes out because people only focus on whats presented to them from the media and whatnot
ItszKaykayx0x3 Says:
May 22, 2012 - What are you talking about? 90s were amazing.. well the early 90s anyway before all this boy band shit started
MONKEYSEATBANANAZzz Says:
May 24, 2012 - Yes I agree! Triple j has heapssss of amazing artists and songs!
vickihollettvideo Says:
May 25, 2012 - Magic!
MatthewLawyer95 Says:
May 26, 2012 - The Who, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles !!
FanOfJudasPriest Says:
May 27, 2012 - the 80' were awesome too, for me the best decade of rock/metal music
aidandanielle Says:
May 27, 2012 - shit i accidentally hit the down button. but. yeah, this song would be the response of those who suck out of people born in the 90's if they actually knew any good music. good thing they don't, they'd probably do autotuned covers of it.
Criddian Says:
May 28, 2012 - I laugh every time I see comments like these, whining about "music nowadays suck, it was all better in the 60's/70's people only make shit today". Seriously, there is so much great music today, you just got to know where to look.
ConnorG56 Says:
May 28, 2012 - Ok, lets hear some decent modern music then.
Criddian Says:
May 28, 2012 - It depends on whether or not you like electronic music, but I'm assuming you don't so here's just a few: The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The XX, Phoenix, Muse, Kings of Leon, Death Cap for Cutie, Coldplay. And the list goes on :)
LookitsLolWizard Says:
May 28, 2012 - Music industry nowadays is nothing but a commercial blindfold that forces you to listen to nowadays talentless and created 'artists' and prevents you from seeing theres actually good music out there, the younger generations dont know any better than think the stuff on MTV is good.
RiccardoAlcaraz Says:
May 30, 2012 - Yeah, i'm 18, but this is my generation! I just was born to late xD

AirWaterLandBuffalo Says:
May 18, 2012 - Precisely. There's crap music in every decade, but what we always remember is the good music. It'll be the same for this just-gone decade.
