Description:
Oh I've just comeFrom the land of the sunFrom a war that must be wonIn the name of truthWith our soldiers so braveyour freedom we will saveWith our rifles and grenadesAnd some help from GodI want to see my familyMy wife and child waiting for meI've got to go homeI've been so alone, you seeYou just can't believeThe joy I did recieveWhen I finally got my leaveAnd I was going homeOh I flew through the skymy convictions could not lieFor my country I would dieAnd I will see it soonI want to see my familyMy wife and child waiting for meI've got to go homeI've been so alone, you seeWhen I walked through the doorMy wife she lay upon the floorAnd with tears her eyes were soreI did not know whyThen I looked into her handAnd I saw the telegramThat said that I was a brave, brave manBut that I was deadI want to see my familyMy wife and child waiting for meI've got to go homeI've been so alone, you see

VroLeLaundSo Says:
Feb 18, 2012 - i love this song, but i think it´s sad that some people want to die for their country. it´s not right to die for the war. thats my view of war. it´s not right to call someone a coward who runs away from war instead of "fighting for the country". And i don´t think it´s brave to fight. it´s just another child without a father. I would definitely run. I would run as fast as I can.
davispaulm Says:
Feb 25, 2012 - Freedom comes at a cost. Good thing we have men and women that feel differently than you.
VroLeLaundSo Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - OK, we have different view of war. maybe it´s because I come from a country were war is so far away that I can´t even imagine WHAT war really is. And I really happy about that!! I won´t fight with you. But I´m happy I don´t have to think about war. You have to admit that it´s not good that so many Men and women and children are dying because of war. But maybe I´m just a naive austrian girl who knows nothing about war...
hotshot172 Says:
Mar 14, 2012 - Sadly that's the name of the game. When you raise your right hand and take that oath, you are swearing you will follow the orders of the president and those appointed over you, and that you are willing to give your life for the greater good. Do I think we belong over there in the sand box? No. But I joined to protect our country, given the chance, and that's what I stand for.

Mar 15, 2012 - ouch...that hurt...please don't cover any more new order. please. thank-you.
sunnykairos Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - this is new order song from 1983
sunnykairos Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - no, it is naive to go to war to profit those you will never know and kill for them
sunnykairos Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - Serving the needs of companies like Halliburton and the banks and countries we owe additional trillions of dollars to, is that what you stand for? Close to one million Iraqi civilians died to take out one man. A country that had no weapons of mass destruction, trained by the cia under george bush senior. Is the oil in your car worth 5000 dead american soldiers and 40,000 maimed when we can make it from algae and crop waste?
LonelyNatives Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - So, I'm 24, and I've just realized it took me this long to find music that has a heart. I think this song just changed my whole perspective on music.
VroLeLaundSo Says:
Mar 24, 2012 - hey, you´re right! war destroyed my whole country, plus many others around it. i don´t know any men or women over 80 who don´t have a trauma because of war. Maybe the USA thinks that it´s too liberal to be against war.... but can anyone of you tell me the sense of the afgahnistan-war?
hotshot172 Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - You obviously missed the point of my comment. What did I say about how I felt about us being over there? Go back and read what I said. I joned to protect our country, not someone elses.

Apr 12, 2012 - Great cover, he really made this tune his own, being that it is a new order song
thecolourhurts Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - I like Iron & Wine, but this doesnt hold a candle to the original New Order tune. There is something pleading in the original that is an exclamation - this version is missing the heart.
daq219 Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - I don't like war either, but there ARE people (countries) out there that are a dangerous threat. And there have been before (Japan, Germany, Russia), and Iran today. I actually think soldiers of the war are the bravest among us, because they've fully devoted, and are risking, their life for our safety, and the safety of our country. I have strong respect for soldiers, but I completely oppose war. I hate that war exists in the first place. I hope that makes sense for all you out there.
VroLeLaundSo Says:
Apr 20, 2012 - yeah, in some points you´r right. soldiers ARE brave. but there also....insane. i´m sorry if I hurt anyones feelings, but thats what I think. The REAL blamewothy men are the presidents. Just two grown men fighting about who´s right, about their territory, are responsible for so many death people?? this isn´t a healthy system. thats sick. So I think this presidents should go into a room and fight for therselfs. they are just cowards. so. i said what i had to say. 5 times;)
Belanger3167 Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - I think it's both. It all comes down to her eyes in my opinion. In the original "her eyes were sore" because she was crying from the notice of death. In this version I heard "her eyes did soar." As in she was super happy to see him. She had received the notice in error, as he was in fact alive. It's just a song and it's open to interpretation, but this version, I feel, that he is alive and he returns home to his wife who had just finished reading an erroneous notice of death.
KingMeruem Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - this song makes me very sad...
Dylan Masterson Says:
May 9, 2012 - he is most definitely a ghost. a ghost with one hell of a beard.

wildroseabbieeify Says:
Feb 7, 2012 - why are people arguing over whether he meant he was dead or not? I just think this is a beautifully sad song and should be appreciated for the emotion and effort put into it, not an analysis of each lyric. <3
