Currently living in Washington, D.C., he has been a columnist at Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, World Affairs, The Nation, Slate, Free Inquiry, and a variety of other media outlets. Hitchens is also a political observer, whose books — the latest being "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" — have made him a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits. In 2009 Hitchens was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "25 most influential liberals in U.S. media." The same article noted, though, that he would "likely be aghast to find himself on this list" and that he "styles himself a radical", not a liberal.http://www.hitchensweb.comhttp://www.youtube.com/CSPAN.

May 27, 2012 - Nonono you said that humans would live in peace and harmony without religion, implying that there would be NO problems. THAT is ignorant. Humanity will always have problems with eachother.
Adoringprodigyfan Says:
May 27, 2012 - You just compared the work of some desert stoners to Tolkien's...
TheSaderV Says:
May 27, 2012 - Yeah, but no religion would be one less problem.
KrazLaz Says:
May 27, 2012 - Oh the double irony! You think the Bible is all about "love thy neighbor" don't you?
TheNaziBudgieSS Says:
May 28, 2012 - He's now in heaven so he knows there is a God.
iamdabossofnepal Says:
May 28, 2012 - no.. he is not. and you will not end up there either.. no one will.. it's like trying to get an invite to the neighbour's house party when there is no neighbour..there is no party and there is no bliss.. but that doesn't mean life is not good.. or that you cannot live well.. you certainly can.. all you need is you.
DayDreamAscent Says:
May 28, 2012 - You've gotten away with that fairy story for centuries. I mean, even you must have asked yourself some questions (Noah's Ark for example, where exactly did they put all the poo?).It's 2012. Be a grown-up. Stop thinking there's an invisible man in the clouds. He isn't there.
dex1391 Says:
May 28, 2012 - Hope this bigot grabbed some sunblock...
TheNaziBudgieSS Says:
May 29, 2012 - I haven't gotten away with anything. There are several religions in the world, each with it's own load of horseshit. Why an all or nothing stance?God is not invisible in the clouds, he is everywhere you look and beyond that. When you cross over, as we all will, you will have a very happy surprise.
FireUntoFlame Says:
May 29, 2012 - I remember sitting in Church at the age of 12 having that exact revelation.
lessevdoolbretsim Says:
May 29, 2012 - If there is a god, I think life is an integrity test, to see if the people who know the Bible is bunk, (and other holy texts) to have the guts and honesty to come out and admit they don't believe it. Then god would take the honest and brave people to heaven, and leave the gullible cowards to burn. I think I'll start a new religion.
seleroan Says:
May 29, 2012 - Realizing, of course, that anyone who actually showed up to your services would be doomed. J'amuse. :D
Velayasha Says:
May 29, 2012 - I've actually thought about your scenario before. We probably aren't the only ones to think of it. but there's one major problem with your possibility: God does not lie. Therefore that scenario is a load of crap at the start. Btw, there are plenty of people with faith who have guts and honesty. You have no place to judge our integrity.
Cthemotorcyclist1982 Says:
May 29, 2012 - hairy feet? you got some issues!

May 29, 2012 - You just made my day
LdnGirl89 Says:
May 29, 2012 - I wish I invented religion I would be so f****** rich!!!
LdnGirl89 Says:
May 29, 2012 - There is no proof of this heaven you talk about or your god, What makes you think anything happens to you when you die? Don't you want some kinda proof for this afterlife? & what would be the point of eternally existing exactly? seems pretty pointless.
dokshakata Says:
May 29, 2012 - and it iz quite feasible and highly probable that all of these "godz" were and are X X X Xtra Terrestrialz and I don't giv a mad fuk about wut any of u troglodites think about it, enuf of this mundane posturing by agents of mediocrity on this planet. with the exception of a few most of the useless "colonized" slugz on this rock do their 9 to 5 go home and make love to their f'ing couch & tv. newzflash "its not the economy........stupid", its yor will to upgrade yor sight, wake up nahola pleez
dokshakata Says:
May 29, 2012 - also did u know that the shillz that copied the old texts misinterpreted the hebrew word "alma" meaning young woman as "virgin" and caused much turmoil even now because of that. tales with fanatical followers tend to become more fantastic and outragous as time goes by, ergo now predator drones are the christian soldiers eyes of god in the sky, sik fux. may the goudz of ashes shake in their living roomz
aODCuk Says:
May 30, 2012 - "oh by the way when are you going to talk about my new book?"I LOVE HIM. sorely missed :'(but i know he's in heaven now winning an argument against God, Jesus, Allah and w/e fantasy character you believe in
thrashmetalkills Says:
May 30, 2012 - worked for L. Ron Hubbard
manthasagittarius1 Says:
May 30, 2012 - Come on, there's high ground to be commanded here, why don't you command it? I don't hold the bible more seriously than I hold Tolkien -- less, probably -- even as literature, but if that's all you think there is to it for content, you aren't talking sense. It doesn't pay to get intellectually jingoistic -- there's activity of that nature enough on the side that only holds one text supreme.
TenStoryLoveSong Says:
May 30, 2012 - I agree...but plenty more lies from vile popes, priests and vicars too!
Mattgyver31786 Says:
May 31, 2012 - The guy who walked on water was Jesus and if you know anything about J.R.R. Tolkein, his work "Lord of the Rings" and the series was based on biblical scripture. Secondly he wrote it to warn against people wanting to fall into worship of some symbol such as a ring and the following of some worship of the "all-seeing Eye" (Egyptian idolatry handed down through the generations and found its way into freemasonry!) AND FYI he was a christian and close friend to C.S.LEWIS. I don't have to explain.<3
