Apr 18, 2012 - and your opinion is obviously vastly superior to mine. i thank you for your cavalier attitude and your conceited undertones, and i bid you adieu. hopefully one day you'll start to understand that no one is the best guitarist ever.

Apr 19, 2012 - Greatest guitar player ever? Linc Chamberland. We will be lucky to have a guitar player like that for thousands of years.
Benrdsknrd Says:
Apr 21, 2012 - Gilmour actually admitted in an interview a few years back that what he lacks in technical skills, he has had to make up for with soulfulness. I'd say he's done a fine job at that.

Apr 28, 2012 - Watching this, I realized why the music industry sucks today. There aren't any Frank Zappas out there. Nobody would give this guy a chance today. And it's a shame.

Apr 29, 2012 - You should read The Real Frank Zappa Book... nobody gave him a chance back then either, but by innovating and persevering for decades he built what the industry couldn't or wouldn't! I can't think of anyone out there now who is the full package, but his spirit is around in a few places, whether it is the style of the music or how the artist is approaching their work.

Apr 30, 2012 - Thanks for the tip. I remember when I was a teenager in the 70's, we were all really into this guy. He took rock 'n roll and turned it inside out. You never knew what he was going to do next.

May 1, 2012 - I wish I got into Frank's music earlier! A great story from the book about his troubles was that he won an award for some song, and when he went to the awards event they played the song and it sounded very different. It turned out that the label had things cut when the songs were being mastered!

May 3, 2012 - From what I understand, his son put a band together and were touring playing his father's songs. I think Frank would be proud.

May 14, 2012 - What an amazing artist! Zappa took the creative ball and just ran with it!!!! From classical, to comedy, to just plain cookoo! And a mix of all three at some times. Absolutely amazing man. I lost most of the records (vinyl) I used to have, but I still have Overnight Sensations and Joe's Garage, which were his later efforts before he returned to his classical roots. He was a 'one off', we'll never see an artist like him again!

May 15, 2012 - You know what's funny? Listening to the radio tonight, Smoke on the Water came on. I know the song's gettin a little old and tired, but Deep Purple immortalized....... Frank Zappa and the Mothers!
