Mar 26, 2012 - Do you ever experience "modeller resolution" errors when dimensioning large surface areas?I get errors when trying to layout 4 acre plots. How do you get around this? Thank you

gospens Says:

Mar 26, 2012 - SolidWorks has a limit to a 1km cube centered at the origin. Usually plenty of room for most mechanical design. 4 acres is much smaller and should certainly fit, but if you have extremely shallow arcs where the center point of the arc is outside the 1km boundary, you'll get the error when trying to dimension the arc. With large scale geometry, you're also always better off to center your geometry on the origin.

Apr 18, 2012 - How can i easily create a 2D block of an assembly, like that you used on this video?

gospens Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - The assumption here was that you didn't already have a 3D sub assembly. I'd recommend using your 3D model if you have it. But if you want to make a block, you need to create a drawing view, save it as DXF or DWG, open the DWG in SolidWorks, DraftSight or AutoXXX as a drawing and then make a block out of the resulting sketch geometry.
