Description:
Has talking to the Taliban failed? To see more go to http://www.youtube.com/user/journeymanpicturesFollow us on Facebook (http://goo.gl/YRw42) or Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/journeymanvod)Attacks from the Taliban continue to terrorise Afghanistan a decade after the invasion. With the US withdrawal scheduled for 2014, what hope is there after 10 years of Operation Enduring Freedom?Operation Enduring Freedom was meant to drive the Taliban out of Afghanistan for good, but recently they've been just as deadly as ever. Their killing of high profile Afghans, like Former President Bahruniddin Rabbani, has rocked the nation and in doing so, shattered both its peace process and its policy of 'talking' with the Taliban. "By killing a leader they have crossed the line", says Governor Mohammad Ata Nur. Rabbani's killing marks a turning point for this battered nation. Talking peace with terrorists has taken the country even closer to the edge. Former Taliban minister Wakil Ahmed Mutta Wakil argues the frustrations of his people are clear. "Major-General Atta, Dr Abdullah and others, they insist on one point, that we have to fight forever. But Afghans do not support this idea. They are tired after 30 years of war". Jan 8, 2012 - Afghanistan is a great country. In my opinion (an afghan girls prespective), I think that the Taliban is toooo strict. I am glad that they brought sharia law but they made it tooo strict by making women not go out w/out a man escorting her. In Islam, if a women is certian miles away from home then she should be escorted by man. They also made islam look barbaric.

Feb 1, 2012 - thanks for the post, interesting and informative, another world struggling with the issues of capitalism, war and internal rivalry...people stuck in a jam, basically just trying to make it on a daily basis....politics conflict and chaos...

afg96 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - Pakis are Pakis, Afghans are Persians and Pashtuns (Lost Tribe of Israel) Pakis work for money they work for CIA and other NATO backed countries they want to destroy Afghanistan because they are jealous, do you know it was us Afghans that thought them manners, respect, culture, education, and how to dress. Before that they were barbaric people they were one country with India They got their assed kicked by British while we Afghans were kicking British's ass Pakis are threat to everyone

polka23dot Says:

Mar 17, 2012 - Efforts to improve the Afghan economy have been severely hobbled by the widespread corruption and criminal activity. Afghans in charge of foreign aid money are under a lot of pressure to divert the money to family, clan, or tribe. As a result, infrastructure (roads, electrical distribution systems, government services) is difficult to create and is still, after a decade of effort, absent in most parts of the country.

Thedickknows Says:

Mar 17, 2012 - LOL! Taught them how to dress? What in towels? Jealous of what? What has Afghanistan ever been other than a shithole? And you havent kicked anyones ass but your women and economy! Afghanistan is one of the poorest most backward shitholes in the world! And thanks to Islam it will always be a shithole! Backward people!

afg040 Says:

Mar 18, 2012 - Afghanistan is a beautiful country i love my homeland and without War the best place to live with all family members. We need Peace to build our Land and make it strong enough for all enemys of this World. When Taliban take the Peace and join the Goverment in a good way not like the Taliban Regime time. It will be better for all people and we will be stronger together build a strong army and police force and nobody can occupy Afghanistan.

BrothersFreedive Says:

Mar 22, 2012 - This is why Gandhi said, "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind"...

polka23dot Says:

Apr 2, 2012 - Before the Afghan police officer named Asadullah killed eight of his colleagues and one civilian Friday morning, he spent years as a Taliban fighter, targeting men he called infidels and crisscrossing the Pakistani border with teams of insurgents. He granted the Taliban permission to kill his father, named Ehsanullah. Ehsanullah had long preached against jihad, and his public opposition to the Taliban in an insurgent-heavy region made him an obvious target.

CSATexan Says:

Apr 6, 2012 - Nice catch phrase but hardly relevant to what the bible spoke about. An eye for an eye was a limitation on the punishment someone could receive. If he stole your horse you could not take all his property.

CSATexan Says:

Apr 6, 2012 - I can answer that YOU see Afghans and Pakis THEY see Pashtun, Tajik, and Hazara not to mention rival gangs and kafirs.Leon Uris said it better than I ever couldBefore I was nine I had understood Arab life.It was me against my brotherme and my brother against our fathermy family against my cousins and the clanthe clan against the tribe the tribe against the worldand all of us against the infidel.

AFGUNITT Says:

polka23dot Says:

May 14, 2012 - The long (over a year) international investigation into a major act of corruption, involving the Kabul Bank and the theft of nearly a billion dollars, has concluded that it was carried out with the help of auditors from the Pakistani branch of a Western accounting firm (PricewaterhouseCooper). The Pakistani auditors are considered criminally liable, and this is likely to turn into an international legal crises. Foreign aid donors have been increasingly angry at the blatant theft of foreign aid.

polka23dot Says:

May 14, 2012 - Over half of the Afghan population now has a cell phone (compared to none a decade ago) and 85 percent of the country has coverage. The Taliban hate the cell phones because when the Taliban are out robbing, killing or terrorizing, too many people call the police. This has resulted in major efforts by the Taliban to force the cell phone companies to shut down completely, at least at night. This is why over 80 percent of civilians killed in Afghanistan are killed by the Taliban.
