May 22, 2012 - Pianos werent even in China until the 1900s, while they were in Europe ever since the Baroque period as harpsicords, and evolved in the Classical period to piano (around 1600). And this guy isnt just any asian pro, hes Li Yun Di, one of China's best piano players along with Lang Lang

theguy5279 Says:

May 23, 2012 - Actually the classical period was around 1750-1820The piano was invented by an Italian man called Bartolomeo Christofori (I think I've spelt it correctly :L ) sometime very near the beginning of the 18th century The baroque period was from around 1600-1750, you've got the two mixed up ;)

May 23, 2012 - Lang Lang does take his profession very seriously, his way of playing is just how he plays; yes he can be a showman sometimes, but that is just how he performs and interprets the music.Everyone has a different interpretation of music, after all, music is an art. Personally I don't like some of Lang Lang's interpretations of certain pieces and yes sometimes his facial expressions can defer from the music somewhat; but it's just him expressing himself and the emotion he feels while playing.

theguy5279 Says:

May 23, 2012 - He isn't trying to look silly and he certainly doesn't regard himself as a joke. Why are you hating on the guy for being himself; if you see him outside the concert hall he is a happy kind of guy. I personally don't see what's wrong with how he plays.Pianists like Vladamir Horowitz and Yundi Li may play their music in a more serious way, but who said that that is how the piano should be played?I personally play the piano for enjoyment and am always smiling while tickling the ivories ;)

theguy5279 Says:

May 23, 2012 - If anything, one of Lang Lang's appeals as a pianist is his unique way of playing and how he doesn't stick to the traditional somber expressions we see normally with musicians of his caliber. Lang Lang expresses his enjoyment through his playing and creates a more intimate relationship with the audience to how he is interpreting the musicSince when is enjoying yourself so wrong? :)Aha, sorry for the long rant-like comment

kripta10 Says:

May 26, 2012 - stop with left and right hand at the beggining and in the middle of a cadence.

May 26, 2012 - Was it necessary to give your age? It isn't because it is subliminally showing boastful acts. I learnt this when i was even younger than you, so please don't boast.

May 27, 2012 - U think the other greats did not have strict parents to push them when they were 10 and just wanted to play outside with their mates?oh i guess...they just practised for countless hours and hours in their craft as a child because of their passion. *rolls eyes*

mrficho097 Says:

May 27, 2012 - Asians aren't piano pros! They often don't know how to show their feelings so it sounds as if it is played by an cold heartless robot.

th415263 Says:

May 27, 2012 - That is not true. Granted, many do play like that, but it doesn't matter what race you are. I've heard many asians play, and it's amazing! Close your eyes, and pretend you don't know what nationality he is. You'd be surprised.
