Higher education is great for a lot of jobs, but what about the people who actually roll up their sleeves and fix things or build things? Stuff like AC/ heating technicians, plumbers, construction workers etc... People usually look down those kind of jobs even thought they take a great deal of skill and specific knowledge. The thing is, we need people doing those jobs just as much!

Apr 9, 2012 - What sane person thinks that they don't need plumbers? I think that the union movement would have much more respect and support if they didn't tie themselves into the system. Doing so has removed much of the threat unions once possessed. This 'selling out' is why they aren't as respected, at least from my experience.

Apr 21, 2012 - Look at what government spokes person says,"We want to create certainty for investors that there is rule of law." I was reading Margaret Thatcher's book (The Path to Power). She clearly mentions that MAINTAINING LAW AND ORDER IS NOT MAINTAINING RULE OF LAW. What the government is doing is clearly WRONG. If it wants to maintain rule of law, it should recognize the rights of students rather than forcing them to order.

I myself am a product of the public school and private school systems, and think its a sad day when someone has to be neck high in debt to finance going and getting a quality education. Any way you swing it what the Chilean and American governments are doing it extortion plain and simple, and it needs to stop.
