Added: Aug 6, 2010

Author: Borinyukami

Duration: 1:20

Description:
I recorded this on my cell phone, so forgive me...Proposition 8 was the infamous ban on Gay Marriage in California. Thanks to the United States Supreme court, Prop 8 has been ruled unconstitutional. It's about time they did something right.

Aug 7, 2010 - In Murphy v. Ramsey (1885) the U.S. Supreme Court stated:".....the coordinate state of the Union, than that which seeks to establish it on the basis of the idea of the family, as consisting in and springing from the union for life of one MAN and one WOMAN in the holy state of matrimony; the surefoundation of all that is stable and noble in our civilization; the best guaranty of the reverent morality which is the source of all beneficent progress in social and political improvement"

Borinyukami Says:

Aug 7, 2010 - And Gay Marriage prohibits the unions of Heterosexuals in which way? The union of two people creates families, not destroys them.May I remind you, this is 2010, the definition of what it morally accepted in society has changed. As it should. The foundation of our Government is the taxes in which we pay. Not the union of two individuals. Whether a child is born out of wedlock, or out of matrimony, they will still grow up. Let's leave our children with a future.

kenballer00 Says:

Aug 7, 2010 - From the U.S. supreme court in Baker v. Nelson:"The institution of marriage as a union man and woman, uniquely involving the procreation and rearing of children within a family, is as old as the book of Genesis.....This historic institution manifestly is more deeply founded than the asserted contemporary concept of marriage and societal interests for which petitioners contend. The due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment is not a charter for RESTRUCTURING it by judicial LEGISLATION."

AnimeFanOmega Says:

Aug 7, 2010 - Lol so nothing in the world has changed? New laws haven't been added? So blacks and women still can't vote? Hmm...

kenballer00 Says:

Aug 7, 2010 - i agree that as society changes the constitution should change as well. however, we do not live in an aristocracy. we live in a democratic republic where it is the majority of people's job to amend and change the constitution not four or five unelected judges or openly gay judgethe constitution is not suppose to be interpreted as a living breathing document.

soldierofkazus Says:

Aug 8, 2010 - Do you know what I hate about politics? No matter what issue you're looking at - under any circumstances - everyone arguing on both sides is stupid. I believe the comments thread here is proof of this.

team0bl1v10n Says:

Aug 8, 2010 - i agree, but you cant use internet discussions as an example of that EVERYONE is an idiot when arguing online

awinrarisme4 Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - On one side, the government did the correct thing here...1. Religion has no place in deciding how laws are made. Demoting homosexuality because of a Christian influence in our government is against what we stand for.2. The freedom of the people to practice what they want, regardless of morals, is one reason America exists, and a main reason.

awinrarisme4 Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - On the flip side...1. The initial spread of HIV came from homosexually active men, killing millions of people to this day.2. The homosexuals, you being an example, have been allowing the government officials to divert attention from things that actually matter (Ex: Middle Eastern affairs) and focus it on their love lives, wounding and killing soldiers who have some degree of potential, unlike average gays.3. Gays are slowly getting an imbalance of power, treating themselves like a race.

SugarCape Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - though i sense a biased tone, i have to agree with most (not all) of #2what is more important?the rights of one community (one step at a time, borin! :3) or the lives of countless people?or is this what is meant from "people dying to protect our rights"?

SugarCape Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - hey! wanna get in a debate over wether or not comments threads can provide intellectual, thought-provoking, conversations?

AnimeFanOmega Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - The "majority" does not decide the laws. Yes, we do live in a Democratic society but if the majority were the ones who made decisions then we would still have many laws that are unjust. It takes a few people to make a change, not a majority. And it's also the steps that the bill has to go through, so maybe Prop 8 will still be a no. I believe this is very unjust. To restrict the right of marriage is, by definition wrong, and unconstitutional.

kenballer00 Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - why do you believe its wrong?

awinrarisme4 Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - It's in response to the gays interfering with truly important matters. Public attention has been diverted from the Middle Eastern wars and to this idiocy. It's the same as diverting someone from the newspaper to Fox. All about emotion, and people like Boris (Alex) only encourage this irresponsible and idiotic behavior.

Walidah Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - Alright, can we just clear the situation up please? First, no I'm not gay. But, at the same time, growing up in a Christian/Catholic family with other religions here and there, you learn from the Bible to 'love thy neighbor as thy self'. It seems odd that most, if not all, people who are against gay marriage are religious.

Walidah Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - Also, it's not like homosexuality is just appearing in history. I mean, come on folks, other cultures had homosexuality and was fine about it until one certain country came into their country. But that's another discussion for another day, which will continue on until the end of time. As for homosexuals becoming a 'group/race' of their own? Well.....why not? There are religious groups and racial/culture groups. why not have one for sexuality?

Walidah Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - Also, from life experience, I'd have to say that between straight and homosexuals/bi/transvesitite.........majority of straight people are hypocrites and have a hard time getting over theirselves, don't want change and, quite honestly, want things to be like they were back before the civil rights movement. homosexuals/bi/trans., on the other hand, are freakishly cool, know how to take care of their selves and can dress extremely well.

Walidah Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - Damn, I wish I had a homosexual friend. Borin, can we be friends so I can glomp/pounce/huggle youse? ^^

Borinyukami Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - Slow down there my friend.1) The initial spread of aids started from the reuse of needles in Africa, in which the indigenous people had built up somewhat of an resistance to the virus; the unsterilized needless gave it to those who were without resistance. Yes, Homosexuals are more at risk for the virus, because many are too stupid to use a condom.2)The people of our nation should always come first. Not trying to divert attention from anything. Just trying to get Attention.

Borinyukami Says:

Aug 11, 2010 - 3) Any HOMOSAPIEN that plays the race card, or decides to distinguish themselves in manner that assumes race, is a moron. It is not Us, It is not Them, it is WE. Pretending we're different, or one is better, is just silly.

awinrarisme4 Says:

Aug 13, 2010 - I can't refer to gays as myself, considering that I myself am not a homosexual, so I use words such as "they", "them", etc. Here's another example- sadism- fetishists are human beings as well, who get off sexually by causing pain to others. I can give you a knife right now, and have you stab a small child while masturbating, and you'll like it... that is, if your manner of wording is correct. After all, Proposition 8 was aimed towards GAYS, not straight people.

Borinyukami Says:

Aug 14, 2010 - I don't see how the correlation, but what ever. The point I'm making is, that if we as a people keep dividing ourselves, there will never be equality in this country. We are not gay people, we are not straight people, we are people first and foremost.

awinrarisme4 Says:

Aug 15, 2010 - Makes plenty of sense, the correlation. People have different traits, and what you're saying is that we should treat everyone the same. That ideal is of Communist manifesto, in fact, and incredibly flawed. Again, back to comparing sadism fetishists and others- if we're to give everyone the same rights pertaining to their traits, then we can give sadists the right to masturbate while cutting people and torturing them, which is actually illegal. Straight people aren't gay.

Borinyukami Says:

Aug 16, 2010 - Not at all. How does hurting people have anything to do with homosexuality? Homosexuality isn't a fetish, it's an orientation. It is the attraction of a member of one sex, to another of the same sex.No, the idea of treating everyone the same is American. "All men are created Equal." Need I remind you that is included in our wonderful Declaration of Independence. So call me a communist for believing that every US citizen should have the same basic rights, and privileges.
