Skynyrd was not a band in that sense. They had extremely talented members who by the force of their skill and thier hard work rose themselves up to success. My point is Skynyrd was no Grand Funk Railroad who caught a break at the right time. These guys willed themselves through sweat and blood into rock stardom.

Apr 17, 2012 - Absofrigginlutely. I cannot think of another American Band that can touch the original lineup with Steve Gaines in it!!! He absolutely made Skynryd Bomb proofed. Ed King was great too ,but Gaines was a special gift from the Heavens.Taken way too soon from us.The 3 guitar attack was devastating! Ronnie will go down as one of the all time ,sh!t kickin' bad-ass front-men of all time.He didnt jump around and do gymnastics or anything ,but I mean ,he was just too damn cool. Holy crap.
