Description:
Tamiya Scania R620 with MFC-01 demonstrating its special functions controlled via a Spektrum DX6i.Edit April 2012: I have had heaps of questions regarding the video. Despite what Tamiya, Spektrum or Futaba says, it is possible to configure your own radio to work with the MFC-01 (or any other Tamiya multifunction unit). What you need is a four channel radio that has dual rates. Dual rates have two settings, 0 (off), 1 (on). In 0, have your travel range set at 66%, and in 1, set it to 100%. Run through your MFC-01 setup with dual rates set at 0. Thus, when you engage setting 1, you access the special functions. You will see me flicking switches during the video. That's me activating the dual rates. Hope it works for you guys, because it works in every single one of my Tamiya models that use an multifunction unit - Tiger, Pershing, Leopard, Panther, and Scania.

Apr 17, 2012 - I heard that digital spektrum radios do not fully operate with the MFC-01 in Tamiya trucks. Did you experience any problem with yours?
flomofo1 Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - I heard the same thing, I assume there is no way to make digital trims work? They got rid of the Attack radio and replaced it with the 4GWD with digital trims...
chanchungleong Says:
Apr 20, 2012 - Yes you can. You just need to pre-configure your radio. It needs to have dual rate functions. Before you set up you MFC, you need to enable dualnrate and have one setting at 66% and the second setting at 100%. With the dual rate at the lower setting, set up your MFC. Once done, you can access the special functions by activating dual rate for the respective channel and moving the control stick to its full extent. Hope it works for you!
chanchungleong Says:
Apr 22, 2012 - Yes, it has the MFC-01 kit.
chanchungleong Says:
Apr 22, 2012 - As the DX5e has fixed dual rates, you may need some experimenting to get it to work with the MFC-01. It might still be possible though, using the same basic principles.
chanchungleong Says:
Apr 22, 2012 - Please see my updated video description. However, your 4GWD does not seem to have dual rates. It may not work.

Apr 22, 2012 - Please see my updated video description. Spektrum models DX6i and higher can be made to work with the MFC-01

May 25, 2012 - thanks for posting the video, really impressed with the information, worked first time for me on both trucks.

chanchungleong Says:
Jan 9, 2012 - Six channels, sir. I use all six of them - four on the basic truck functions, one for controlling the rotating beacon, and one for controlling my motorized ramp on my trailer
