RadioFlyer308 Says:

Aug 5, 2010 - You should review the change of power under the Federalists - note the flaws in the Constitution that I would propose are deliberate. The mercantilistic bent of the Constitution as proposed by Hamilton shows the desired transfer of power from the "royal" based oligarchy to the new mercantilistic/banking oligarchy. Individualist anarchy as proposed by Molyneux has flaws that need addressing, such as the problem with the uneducated and mentally incapable and the existence of predatory humans.

tumbleweedjoe Says:

Aug 5, 2010 - In some ways Minarchism is even worse than some forms of statism (like Monarchy) because there is a widespread belief that the state is limited, that "the people" control it, etc. Consequently, people pay far less attention to what it's doing and tend to assume the best when it does act. At least under Monarchy there's no bullshit about whose really running things. You can cut a king's head off. You can't fight an army of slaves who think they're free. Any state is 'too much' state.

InTheEndIWasRight Says:

Aug 5, 2010 - @TheQuestioner132 Oh I understand what you mean, I just thought in the context you meant just the courts for example.

InTheEndIWasRight Says:

Aug 5, 2010 - Agreed completely. I think this "limited government" movement is perhaps just as deadly as the total-staters. If the limited state types win out (which I dont think they will anyway) it will put a nicer face on the state, ie just another mask to hide the brutishness. I think the limited state types will fail, its just them clinging to this absurd notion makes us anti-state ones jobs all the more difficult.

sharperguy Says:

Aug 9, 2010 - Lot of the speakers in libertarian groups like the Mises institute openly admit to being anti-state or 'anarcho-capitalists', I've notices.

NotRyanFaulk Says:

Aug 12, 2010 - Okay, "total state" means like Feudal Europe under the Catholic Church. One's job for their entire life was determined by birth, one was tied to a specific plot, almost all production and consumption was determined by some political agent. That's what it meant. It is at odds with what most people support today, which is the "interventionist state". It is something very few openly support today.

NotRyanFaulk Says:

Aug 12, 2010 - While a state may become so interventionist it becomes indistinguishable from an openly "total state" like the USSR or North Korea, the ideology of the population is qualitatively different. That feudal China and feudal Russia went from one total state to another should not surprise. It's not that those populations were anti-capitalist, but that their thought was pre-economic and entirely political - since economic analysis is meaningless in a completely prescribed feudal "economy".

chorizo1337 Says:

Aug 27, 2010 - Hey if you check out my friend wes bertrands complete liberty podcast, he debated a local constitutionalist on whether or not government is neccesary or not

MrTitiez Says:

Nov 2, 2011 - I think the constitution called for a minarchist government.

MrTitiez Says:

Nov 2, 2011 - But a minarchist government is good because the poor still get to have security, right?

QCREIGN Says:

Apr 6, 2012 - Bro I absolutely agree with you. But convincing people to adopt minarchism is going to be much more simple than teaching them anything about anarchism.
