Feb 18, 2012 - start using automation
lildude198900 Says:
Feb 21, 2012 - wow. I just realized you can automate oscillators. fail.
Spladamb Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - Yes you can automate anything with practically any thing else. Especially with the Thor. You can also have the LFO setting automated my a matrix (which can automate anything).
KillaDose Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - how do you get the email?
TheRealCritique Says:
Mar 12, 2012 - Only newbies who can't deal with their software could dislike this AWESOME lesson. You gotta move fast kiddies. This is one area the SCREAM really shows its worth. Also, you're either going to have to know enough to have a keyboard midi'd in to generate the tone (like he's doing here, I believe), or learn enough about Reason to program 4-8 bars of a note pattern. Matrix is good, but I like exporting it to track - the track this THOR is on.

Mar 28, 2012 - could just cut it in reason too if you wanted to make things easy

Apr 29, 2012 - anyone got any tips on structuring a bassline? Ive got loads of synths and some are really good thanks to tutorials like this, but it seems I suck at choosing how to automate and generally put together a bassline.
Shakeel Hussain Says:
May 1, 2012 - Id recoemmend just analyzing tracks u like (doesnt even have to be dubstep necessarily) but analyse the structure in the drops and try and imitate them. theres nothin wrong with copying songs cuz thts the best way to learn structure
RollAnotherJ Says:
May 2, 2012 - thanks dude, I usually just work from the top of my head, imagining sounds then programming them as such, I guess this would be a better idea tho since it helps with structuring the track. Do you know what the best things to modulate would be to get the best wobbles? I generally just stick an LFO on the filter.
Shakeel Hussain Says:
May 2, 2012 - yeah a simple lfo can be enough depending on what sorta sound ur lookin for, with thor and a combinator try routing the lfo to other devices trust me you can get some heavy results, thats the way iv got tht sorta noisia/kill the noise style sounds
RollAnotherJ Says:
May 2, 2012 - external devices like Skream ect? I never even thought to do that! gunna give it a go on my current project. some random fast distortion modulation might be just what I need on this chiller beat, thanks :D
Shakeel Hussain Says:
May 3, 2012 - yeah man, try something like this, modulate a few things with one rotary knob but at different amounts in the combinator matrix thing, like for example gettin a mid range peak in an EQ to move one way while a filter moves another, just experiment with these. maybe il do a tutorial one day

Feb 5, 2012 - Okay record the notes regularly with whatever you have the rate set as. Then go back and click record and while recording move the lfo1 rate up and down. and it will stay as long as it's recording.
