Title: Ray Harryhausen & Clash of the Titans Remake
Added: Jul 8, 2008
Author: StopMoWorks
Duration: 1:15
Description:
The master of stop motion and inspiration to many of today's special effects artists. This is 'Uncle Ray's' first reaction when the Clash remake news surfaced over a year ago, around 2006. "I've always believed that Stop Motion adds something to the nightmare quality. If you make it too real like CGI, it loses that fantasy quality".We do not know yet what 'Uncle Ray' thinks about the more recent Clash remake 2008 announcement (Louis Leterrier / Director).

Dec 7, 2010 - I think they should cut out that remake crap. I mean, the remake of Clash of the titans was pretty good in some spots, but come on! Why don't you make something else, like a more myth-loyal version of Heracles? (if they do it, I sure hope it's better than that piece of shit disney vesion)

Jan 3, 2011 - King Kong was basically a fan film by modern Kong fans. Clash of the Titans was just a pointless cash-grab. It's obvious they didn't care about the original at all. If you make a film on a book or another film, make sure you're a fan, and you understand and appreciate the original work. Otherwise, ti's just a waste of time and money, such as the Clash of the Titans remake.

Feb 12, 2011 - AUGGGHHHHH!!!!! Why did Warner Bros. remade Clash of the Titans! That remake was a joke! Even Liam Neeson and Ralph Finnes could not save that film! That's how bad it was!

Apr 11, 2011 - Don't worry Ray, Yours is still better...
VenomShock Says:
Apr 18, 2011 - Jackson did amazingly with Lord of the Rings....But then he had to go be a CGI whore for "King Kong". He was 10x as bad as Lucas with that.

May 18, 2011 - The original King Kong is miles more entertaining than the more recent remake, I think even Peter Jackson would probably agree with that.
StarWoors Says:
May 21, 2011 - I AGREE with Ray. Tehy REMAKE things because they have no IMAGINATION!

Jun 27, 2011 - This is why they shouldn't have remade A Nightmare on Elm Street. Wes Craven thought the exact same thing.
MikeAM78 Says:
Jul 3, 2011 - Nothing wrong with remakes, as long as the filmmakers do something interesting and new and don't just rehash the original film. That's why the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD rocked and the remake of PSYCHO sucked.

Jul 11, 2011 - Stopmotion most certainly does add to the "nightmare quality."

Oct 15, 2011 - Jackson's King Kong was still good and better than the Titans Remake

Jan 18, 2012 - Hes so right clash of the titans was a pile o' shite
silentbob8201 Says:
Jan 22, 2012 - Well of course he is, the original Kong inspired him to go into stop motion. the problem with the Clash remake is they changed the story of the original film too friggen much. I mean Jesus Io instead of Andromeda? What ever those Jin things are that look like rejects from Babelon Five. The Medusa scene that seemed more fitting for a God of War video game.

Feb 21, 2012 - I like how Mr Harryhausen says that PJ's Kong is a "different version." The original is definitive, but the remake is rather good. His only caution is that making things look too real with CGI detracts from the nightmarish quality tt stop motion can generate. Stop Motion usually isn't realistic. It is jittery, slow, over-the-top, and unnatural- the way movie monsters should be. His real outrage was over the Clash remake. I think both originals will always be the classics..
ILovemylips3 Says:
Feb 22, 2012 - How was what I said "spam?" I do think stop motion works well for things bigger than life, and the advancement of CGI often does not have the "character" of stop motion. Stop motion is an art form that has faded away unnecessarily. A lot of CG does not look physically present. Stop motion involves real materials and lighting, and I think that when used well can be up to par with CGi. CG isn't bad, just overused a lot of the time.

Mar 6, 2012 - Jazzy computer effects and pseudo philosophy does not make a remake better than the original. Harryhausen is and always will be DA MAN.
TheNautilusCharmer Says:
Apr 17, 2012 - Heck, yeah.

May 28, 2012 - Ray, I still think that yours is the better...Well... to be honest, to think that the remake is better, you first need to know shit about Greek Mythology and never been watched the original.

Nov 7, 2010 - I was unpleasantly disappointed with the Remake of this picture from the CG Ito the cast. Sam Worthington was a burnout and is rumoured to be the nxt 007James Bond due to Daniel Craigs busy scheduled and age. God help Us!!
