Description:
The final hunt from the movie " Deer Hunter " . To most people this scene may seem trivial ... but there are not many scenes in any movie that had such a great impact on me like this one .Few understand the grand idea of hunting .

Jul 27, 2011 - This scene 'transcends' deer hunting and I hunt deer. This scene is poetry. The music (and the film) brings tears to my eyes everytime.

TheBeatlesShop Says:

Aug 6, 2011 - Only cowards would kill a creature like that.

7mikethebike Says:

Sep 26, 2011 - the point of this scene, is not about hunting being grand- Michael had learned a respect for life, and an abhorrence of killing, as a result of his horrific wartime experience. It is the most poignant scene in the movie, in my opinion.

Sep 28, 2011 - I could never figure why they shot this scene in some real mountains when it was supposed to take place in Pennsylvania...or did I miss something?

prettymuchawesomeful Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - this scene "transends" a soldier who came back from war, and is tired of killing and death.

jimdivax Says:

May 2, 2012 - Recreational hunters seem an unfulfilled lot: killing animals has got to be a kind of Mastery-transference. They try to control life by taking it. Deep down they'd really prefer to be doing it to people.....

bandwagon22 Says:

May 3, 2012 - What Deer Hunter didn't tell was that there wasn't such a "ultra patriotic working class America" eagerly going to Vietnam. It's a pure myth. All the studies made in late 1960's and early 1970's have proved that it was poor, working class people, blacks, latinos, lower educated,+50 yr old who were against the war. Those pro-Vietnam War were more likely white, upper middle class, rich, higher educated - so called intellectuals (liberals or conservatives doesn't matter). So Cimino made a big lie

Quazzga Says:

May 9, 2012 - "...hunters have the utmost respect for the animals they hunt..." Sure - that's why they kill them. But I guess you have to try to justify it somehow. I once helped my friends kill a terrified squirrel in a tree, using .22 rifles. I felt really bad about it afterwards, because we killed a defenseless, terrified animal for no reason other than to feel "macho." It was unnecessary and wrong, and I still regret it. I don't understand the mentality of people who kill animals for fun.

jimrobo4467 Says:

May 16, 2012 - I am truly sorry your first hunting experience was like that, that is not the kind of hunting I do. I don't hunt for fun as you call it. I love the taste of wild game and I waste nothing> I also love the challenge of trying to outwit an animal, I lose way more than I win, the animal has the advantage

TheYoyomonkey10 Says:

May 20, 2012 - that not the story though, basically this is showing how he never wants to end another life as long as he lives.
