The origin of these terrorists might be a few extremist brainwashing religious leaders, but I think this goes much deeper than just that. You have to look into the group of 'Mujahedeen' who helped the USA against the Russians in the 80s and then you'll get an idea of where this is all coming from.

But if you're still not convinced, the Saudi Arabian authorities did capture and even execute many of the terrorists involved in an attack against the USA campus in Riyadh in about 2003/4. But in general, these people are not easy to find.
