Mar 3, 2012 - who the fuck hasn't heard of Bright Eyes?
duckydeeznutz Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - Why did he have to re-release actual produced official recordings of great songs like this and Poison Oak and some others? Basically ruined them. They sound all polished and contrived. There was much more feeling before...

Mar 10, 2012 - what do you mean re-release songs? are there newer versions of them or something?

Mar 12, 2012 - see a painful blue.
Muckruckuck Says:
Mar 13, 2012 - yeah...recently ive been trying to give this artist a chance but i just cant see why people are raving over it. the vocals are nothing special (even annoying sometimes), the lyrics arent hard hitting or interesting, and the guitar patterns are not memorable.
Dredica Says:
Mar 13, 2012 - That's it exactly. I tried to see him as being different because I thought there must be SOMETHING special if so many people I know loves him. But it's seriously all complaining about how slow life is, losing somebody, or a girl breaking his heart/falling in love. There's no sense of true, talented writing in the lyrics. Then his voice sounds the same as others. The instruments as well. Thank you for seeing it the way I and only a few others do. Not good because it's not memorable.

Mar 17, 2012 - I likes his own way, why he has to be as commercial artist, anyway?
fishy8081 Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - It took me a while to really get in to them, but Lover I Don't Have To Love and A Poetic Retelling Of An Unfortunate Seduction stood out for me. Try them. I personally think his lyrics are pretty good. When you say 'memorable' what do you mean by that? Is a song memorable because you can remember the tune? By that theory every pop artist must be 'memorable'. And as for you saying that a lot of people love them, I don't know if it's different in England, but I don't know anyone else.
Dredica Says:
Mar 19, 2012 - In America, for the 'individuals' who aren't really individuals because they all act like each other and wear the same clothes and listen to the same music, Bright Eyes is all the rage. Memorable means, for me, that there were lyrics that stood out. I'm more of a lyrical person. I've heard these melodies before, so I want the lyrics to stand out. All of the lyrics he's written I've seen thus far are basically surrounded around only three subjects and all seem like three long, songs.
tomperrone420 Says:
Mar 19, 2012 - if you only see the same 3 topics in conors lyrics, than thats your own lack of comprehension or interpretation. I know you know many people that 'loves' him and that you dont see 'true, talented writing' in his writing, but outside of isaac brock, I dont know an artist of the past decade that has gotten more acclaim from his PEERS for lyrical content. Maybe you just picked up the wrong issue of Rolling Stone and formed an opinion or something.

Apr 2, 2012 - @Dredica I get your point when it comes to the musicianship. And his voice is frail. But the subject content is something you've either never been through, or are grossly underestimating. @tomperrone420 Is correct. The man has nothing but rave acclaim for his lyricism. He's nearly unanimously considered a Bob Dylan-esque figure for this generation in the depth of his writing. The simple tunes and quivering voice add to the aesthetic of his music for most everyone that appreciates him.
5videoviewer Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - @Dredica I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Lifted are good albums to easily appreciate. Let me follow that up by letting you know I wasn't trying to disrespect your opinion. He's really the only 'indie' artist I listen to, and I wasn't as happy with his last two albums. But his weakness is the selling point for his emotion. You want to be able to connect with an artist, Oberst just puts your thoughts into words you never could have and sings with broken emotion. Respectfully disagree man.

Apr 15, 2012 - two years ago i was with a friend in a park and was backing up to catch the ball and I backed up onto a man chilling just like the singer in the picture 0:47. I fell right into the lap of the love of my life. :)

May 15, 2012 - dear god your looking at the wrong album you want hard hitting take a look and the peoples key once you look into obersts lyrics its fascinating the different things hes referencing too, greek mythology, and not the obvious stuff and many religoins, what conor oberst has is an awkward pain and its just relatbale, its like a misery that draws you in
Muckruckuck Says:
May 15, 2012 - good lyrics alone arent good enough, even if he had good lyrics.
