Jan 13, 2012 - The interviewer is falling into a trap. The US is giving Iran a hard time because of geopolitical reasons. It has nothing to do with "Iran's ambition to build nuclear bomb", which is just a smoke screen to cover up the real US interest in Iran. By debating with Mr Pearle on the terms of the "smoke screen" you are only helping him deceive the public that the US is concerned with Iran's "bomb or no bomb". He thus wins whether he wins the debate or loses it.

But doesn't this confirm what I was saying, that since US's problem with Iran is for geopolitical reasons, because of oil, it's bad to go along with the elite's smoke screen and debate with this devil why we don't bomb N Korea when NK has the bomb -- none of this has anything to do with the bomb!

You're supposed to have some idea about what the recipient is going to answer, and you're not supposed to act surprised unless the recipient gives a shocking comeback. None of what he says should be shocking to a person who has done more than 5 minutes of prep research.
