stevevegetable Says:

Sep 9, 2011 - zappa never played with anyone who could'nt play.the guy was a perfectionist and genius and all the players who played with him had to be also.anyone who thinks bozzio is crap really needs to listen to what he had to play with frank then say hes crap if you still can.he may not have played much on this clip but with others playing at the same time he played what was fitting.a jam is about space for others to perform and not to over power others in the group.

TheEsbenaidro Says:

Nov 5, 2011 - it bears repeating... WHERE'S VINNIE?!?!

Eljubilodeltambor Says:

Nov 17, 2011 - Whatever we say... or write here... We all know that Vinnie Colaiuta was the Best... he is INSANE... Musical, Groove master... Reader.... Vinnie is an Alien, That's Why he put Zappa into another level... and That's why Zappa put him on drums... Just at the time he know that he was an alien...

AshesOfEternity Says:

Nov 21, 2011 - I don't think I could even attempt these fills ever in my drumming career...

plasticjesus108 Says:

Dec 1, 2011 - WHERE'S JIMMY CARL BLACK, THE INDIAN OF THE GROUP? AND ARTIE TRIPP AND JOHNNY GUERIN?

MyTEEsharp1 Says:

Dec 21, 2011 - I was going to ask where is vinnie, but I see that has been asked lol

TheZappanut Says:

Dec 31, 2011 - 35 now.

AlexanderHegelund Says:

Jan 6, 2012 - Yeah, we all know that the secret to a great drummer is how many toms he can forcefully enter into a song. Honestly, it takes real talent to create complex rythms with simple layouts. Anyone can bring together 45 toms and just randomly bash them, calling it a rythm, it takes a true master to make new, complex, innovative rythms with a small setup.

WyattTheGuitarist Says:

Jan 21, 2012 - On a standard tuned, six string guitar with 24 frets, a guitarist has 162 pitches available to him at all times. Not all of them are used in one solo because many of them would not fit the context of the *song*. I didn't see anything wrong with his solo. He took an area of his kit that inspired him at that moment and took a rhythmic idea and experimented with it, pretty much what the rest of the drummers did. He doesn't have to use it all at once.

Himannish Says:

Feb 15, 2012 - Also Morgan Argren missing here

mtaygoldin Says:

Mar 15, 2012 - Ralph Humphrey was the best drummer Zappa ever had.

DaFuckinSchwartz Says:

Mar 18, 2012 - @mtaygolden wrong Terry was the most talented the bunch along with having the most ridiculous setup making him far more creative being the most useful asset of Zappa gotta love the mullet he rocked tho lol

farizrosoel Says:

Mar 23, 2012 - well, his drum kit is for melodic purpose, not just for the rhythmic purpose, same as playing guitar, you don't need to play all the notes right ? sorry for my weird comment

DruMM3rB0i2302 Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - and don't forget Dave Weckl and Thomas Lang please!!!

gretschjazzer Says:

May 7, 2012 - Wow. The drummers of Zappa managed to sound boring, uninspired, flat, uninteresting and uncreative - all at the same time, figuratively and literally. Why am I not surprised?Stick Joey Baron and Bobby Previte in duo and they'll play more music in the first minute than these fusion bozos can muster in a lifetime, if that.

nocountryforedtom Says:

May 15, 2012 - Humphrey must have been giving him a little shit along the lines of "Wow Bozzio, with a kit like that you must be trying to compensate for something."

cherryorchards Says:

May 16, 2012 - not sure many people here would know what im talking about, but Drum Channel should make a "The Drummers of Death" (Sean, Hoglan, Christy)

longde Says:

May 22, 2012 - They were all great drummers but for me two stand out: Ralph, for having created memorable drum fills such as the one in Montana (and all in the Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation albums)Vinnie, because his joint drum-guitar improvisations with Zappa are simply an overflow of creativity.

racsopis Says:

May 28, 2012 - Just a few more drummers that played with Frank: Aynsley Dunbar, Ron Selico, Jimmy Carl Black, Vic Mortensen, Art Tripp, Shelly Mane, David Logeman, Vinnie Colaiuta, John Guerin, Paul Humprey, Chuck Grove, Les Papp, Simon Phillips...
