Feb 29, 2012 - If the KC stopped registering unhealthy, inbred and unfit for function puppies just watch how fast the breeds would change back into healthy dogs with good temperaments that make good pets. Show dog conformation should be based FIRST on health, then on function and last on looks. The KC could have brought this in 3 years ago but claim breeder backlash is reason for not doing so, is it a regulatory body or not? Perhaps the KC is not fit for function.

Feb 29, 2012 - I found 'Pedigree Dogs Exposed: Three Years On' highlight important issues that certainly needs to be addressed with some breeders and The Kennel Club HOWEVER it was incredibly one sided and failed to raise the points The Kennel Club has addressed. People have to remember, it is entertainment in the end and if they throw in unbiased debated issues on the GOOD points as well as the bad points within breeding and standards then the program just wouldn't be as 'entertaining' to the viewers.

Mar 1, 2012 - Great advert

Mar 1, 2012 - In My Opinion people who breed dogs knowing of the suffering they will have should be banned from having them.Watch the 'predigree dogs exposed' program, see things as they really are.
TheManWhoIs20 Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - As everyone is entitled to their own opinion I feel very much the Kennel Club is doing the best they can, even the reputable breeders. Some people often forget that there are people who are certain HUGE breed fanciers, they are people whom understand the breed's history, breed standard, temperament, and even health. Regardless of what kind of breed there is, the fanciers just love their breed the way they are. For the haters, don't hate. I'm also not in denial, and don't judge me.

Mar 3, 2012 - Total propaganda for the KC, watching PDE on the bbc reduced me to tears, these dogs are not healthy & it's a terrible scandal that they allow this to continue!
awali1956 Says:
Mar 4, 2012 - When you have top breeders refusing to allow their top stud dogs to be tested for genetic defects that are currently destroying the breeds and the KC only advising rather than enforcing these tests, then the KC is failing in its main responisibility. As the previous top vet of the RSPCA said, the KC should be torn down and an organisation that really cares about the health and livelyhood set up in its place. Advising is pointless when breeders make such large profits from top dogs.
Rikkufairyglade Says:
Mar 5, 2012 - Ive got an Idea!! Why not just stop breeding and got to the RSPCA or dogs trust and get an unwanted and abandond dog! Problem Sorted!!
cirqueduchat08 Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - Shame on you KC. British dog breeds are 'endangered' thanks to you. An organisation which purports to made up of the great and the good of the dog world, who have not one ounce of common sense between them, who see nothing wrong with line breeding, who refuse to acknowledge that puppies which are bred to KC 'standards' are genetically mutants, incapable of leading the happy, healthy lives that dogs deserve.
cirqueduchat08 Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - Furthermore, the lack of support shown to responsible breeders, who choose to out breed in order to produce healthy future generations is despicable.
UprisingMark Says:
Mar 9, 2012 - People have to remember is that PDE is incredably biast, like any industry there is always people who don't abide the rules and exploit things which some breeders do. The Kennel Club has change, but don't forget, there are others to blame such as puppy farmers which was barely mentioned in the program!
ShibasRGreat Says:
Mar 10, 2012 - PDE was nothing more then PETA propaganda. But I can't imagine a group of NON breeders such as the KC are would have any right what so ever to change Breed Standards. If they are so concerned about health in purebred dogs stop registering puppy mill puppies, That would go a lot farther. You may want us to believe you want the best for dogs, but you sure target the wrong people. The actual ones who support your org. are the ones paying for your attack on purebred dogs. Shame on you is right.
WrathOfPookie Says:
Mar 16, 2012 - People should be encouraged to rescue more publicly, but you can't expect breeding to end all together. Rescue dogs often have behavioural issues that first time owners wouldn't be able to cope with and the dog still wouldn't be happy/end up going back to the shelter. Dogs still need to be bred for service e.g. guide dogs that have perfect temperaments and they need to be trained from puppies. Those with allergies need low dander/shedding breeds that aren't always at a shelter.
WrathOfPookie Says:
Mar 16, 2012 - Plus, if no one bred dogs, eventually we'd run out of dogs to be adopted in shelters, except for those from illegal circumstances where breeding was uncontrolled and the overall health of the dog population would decline, where no individuals are suitable to breed from. Then we'd end up with all mongrel and unhealthy/unstable dogs to breed from and the selective breeding process would have to start again OR then dogs would become extinct. This whole issue has a lot of grey areas
eohinyorks Says:
Mar 20, 2012 - Could someone explain to me why, at Crufts, when the Best Of Breed was disqualified the dog that came 2nd wasn't put forward as Best Of Breed? Instead, the whole breed was thrown out.
hogo1 Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - that dalmatian Fiona is 99.98% Dalmatian, but some breeders call her a mongrel....idiots.
TheMogjo Says:
Apr 10, 2012 - Minute mark 14:44 ---Clapppppppps for good eyes in a dog here but HORRIBLE HIPS, KNEES AND HOCKS. What is easier to correct eyes or WHOLE REARS.

Apr 17, 2012 - excellent video. Shared on Google Plus.
HorseManiac1 Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - I think they don't substitute the BOS or another "reserve" dog in the breed is because if the BOB - who was found faulty in some respect - was put up as the BOB, the judge's placement of all dogs in that class would be cast in doubt. I don't know if that's the actual reason, but that seems like a possibility. (If someone knows the actual reason, I'd love to know as well!)
carlosruano75 Says:
Apr 30, 2012 - Thanks to them for all the good they do.

May 9, 2012 - They paint you and your pets playing poker at petpokerportraits website. Just like the classic "Dogs Playing Poker" painting!
351rita Says:
May 25, 2012 - This wants publicising on TV. The general public who love their dogs should be aware of the effects on dogs of breeding inherited problems. All dogs have the right to be healthy, happy and loved.
