May 28, 2012 - Eric Clapton was always the most unassuming of rock stars. As I state in my book, Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa by Pauline Butcher, when Eric visited Zappa at the log cabin in Laurel Canyon, he moved soundlessly around the house and rarely spoke. It was clear he revered Frank and when Frank invited Eric to appear anonymously on stage at The Shrine Expo Hall in LA on May 11th, 1968, very few people knew who Eric was & applause was mild. He slid into the melee backstage without grandeur.

May 29, 2012 - It says Concert For George in the title, genius.

KyOkanagan Says:

May 29, 2012 - He's well known because he was one of the three guitarists along with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck to really bring a new edge to guitar playing. Sure he may not be doing any original stuff of late but he's much older than he was in the 60's. Not to mention he doesn't seem to like to dwell in the spot light like so many famous musicians do. In this video he's just jamming and doing what he loves to do. And having been a close friend to George Harrison why should he not be amongst his fellow greats?

KyOkanagan Says:

May 29, 2012 - I would agree though that out of the 3 Jimmy Page seemed to have the most response to the evolution in guitar and music composition. Being a really good improviser was his ace. But I still think Eric has enough passion and soul to be considered a great guitarist. Technique and speed are one part but you need a soul at the helm to really make yourself believable. That's why George got Eric to do the solo cause he knew that Eric could get the right feel.

Rvgrungeman Says:

May 29, 2012 - Dhani Harrison looks SO MUCH like his father :)

KyOkanagan Says:

May 29, 2012 - I'd say cause everyone there had really close and personal affiliations with George throughout his life and as tribute to their lost friend it was a great idea to have them all play together in comemorative of George.

May 30, 2012 - i agree to you on that observation. artist has different interpretation and their uniqueness can be based how they explore their feelings. it's an innate thing. i like eric here, i remember when they used to do concert together[ George and Eric].
