Aug 3, 2009 - Hi Teresa,How to crochet a tirangle shawl with this pattern or infact any of your pattern stiches? can u tell me the increase/decreae to attain the shape? thanks!

tjw1963 Says:

Aug 5, 2009 - Almost any stitch can be increased, some are more challenging than others. It is adding additional stitches at the end of each row using the pattern stitch. This one would be adding 2 sets of 3 double crochet in the same stitch or between stitches so you will get the increase. When making a shawl, I always recommend that you start small and work your way larger if you are using the V shape. Starting large and working smaller limits you to 1 long width.

Aug 6, 2009 - thankyou teresa.. i can call myself a beginner+ or even intermediate category.. can u suggest me a shawl pattern pls for my grandma..

tjw1963 Says:

Aug 10, 2009 - I have a lot of pattern stitches that will work well for a shawl if you are familiar with increasing. I do not have any that specifically create a shawl. I recommend starting at the point and increasing since this will give you more options when it comes to the final edge width.

Sep 29, 2009 - Hi Teresa. I love this stitch and have completed one afghan with it. I made a baby afghan with it as my first project, but, for some reason I started into the 4th chain from the hook, and was only able to skip one chain before the ending double crochet. It turned out straight though. My edges on each side were very straight. Go figure! :) I apparently modified it without realizing. I will email you pictures of my finshed blankets hopefully soon. Thanks again!!! Happy crocheting!

Dec 18, 2010 - I want to crochet a scarf, how many stitch is needed to start the first chain (1st row)??? and how wide is the scarf for this?Udon (the beginner in Canada)

tjw1963 Says:

Dec 18, 2010 - @udon890 How wide you want your scarf is preference. I suggest that you make a chain to the width you are looking for and then crochet your first row. You may end up with extra chain. If you do, you can sew in the extra chain between your stitches.

tjw1963 Says:

Dec 18, 2010 - @mrsdreazy05 You can start with how ever many chains as you would like. There is a multiple of 3. What do you want to make. If you are making a baby blanket, you would want a chain of 150-175.

Jan 17, 2011 - Teresa, i love your videos. i have learned SO much just by watching you. You are a great teacher! One thing i have not been able to figure out is how to make something round -hat maybe-- in a spiral, in half double crochet.i can do it easily with a single crochet, but i don;t like that stitch too much. and when i try the same thing with a double or half double, it shows a seem, not much like a spiral anymore.can you help me with that?thanks a LOTjulie
