If you think that depriving a dog a bite of food for less then a minute is "torture" then you must have no idea that dogs not only like to be challenged mentally but they benefit greatly by being challenged. The bottom line is that the dog got the treat for behaving properly and was not harmed in any way whatsoever. I'm sure he is as happy as a clam

Nov 17, 2011 - I agree, I was unable to see the owner's face and dogs face at the same time when the correct answer was reached. Therefore, I believe that there may have be a type of gesture we didn't see. I do believe that an animal can learn basic math (a chimpanzee for instance can spell and add, so it's not unfeasible that a dog may be able to with the right training).
