Daniel Kirk Says:

Apr 26, 2012 - After the 80's people stopped making real music? Oasis, The Verve, Supergrass, Radiohead, Blur, The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys?

xquickstrykex Says:

Apr 27, 2012 - You sound like a Sith Lord trying to turn a young Jedi apprentice to the dark side :)

caerulea0 Says:

Apr 27, 2012 - yes come on over, it's awfully pleasant

xquickstrykex Says:

Apr 27, 2012 - Yes...my master...

Xayideify Says:

May 1, 2012 - We're in the new "dark ages" of Western culture. It's the same with movies and TV. Just look at a movie (almost any movie) from the 70's and early 80's, and you'll notice right away the difference in plot complexity. It's up to us to find the real quality and pass it on...just like all of those monks who toiled away during the real Dark Ages, at risk of excommunication or death, just to keep knowledge alive. (Either that, or start MAKING real music again!)

IInventedFire Says:

May 2, 2012 - the fade back in has got to be one of the greatest moments in music for the 80's!proud to be a manchester band!

Jesszenn Says:

May 2, 2012 - aahh the smiths. Nice.

BarraTerraceBoy Says:

May 7, 2012 - I think you hit the nail on the head there. Listening to the Smiths becomes a form of communion: with empathy, understanding and sympathy against a hostile world

fenderrlee Says:

May 10, 2012 - yes

WILLJPX Says:

May 11, 2012 - Well we had britpop, nirvana, radiohead, the libertines, strokes etc, but yeah in general I agree.

vanishingpoint80 Says:

May 12, 2012 - You're not looking hard enough...

Grubby78 Says:

May 12, 2012 - It's an utter myth that The Smiths are depressing. Gorgeous, aching beauty is what they bring.

tbcjoe Says:

May 13, 2012 - That's one opinion. The crap I hear today gives me a headache and leaves me slightly nauseous. For my health's sake, I'll just keep listening to the "Golden Oldies" and leave the new garbage for my kids..

vanishingpoint80 Says:

May 13, 2012 - That reads slightly selfish, why would you want that for your kids? In relation to yourself, feeling nauseous due to music implies deeper things... Do not live your life in fear. You are here one day gone the next, look within yourself, find that comfortable place you once had and use it everyday when you feel anxious or overwhelmed or just fekin pissed at others... and always remember to breath. All the best, good luck ta ya.

vanishingpoint80 Says:

May 13, 2012 - In terms of 'good' music ; Jeff buckley, Sia, Editors, FLC, Soundgarden, Trail of the dead, Gnarls Barkley,Nick cave, Massive Attack, Yoriyos et cetera.Come on sweetheart you can discover plenty of shit, thats just an example of guys and girls who produce sounds on the same level ( Buckley exempt). We place our selves in our youth and wish never to escape that was once was held true.

tbcjoe Says:

May 14, 2012 - LOL I try to get my kids to listen to good music....but they already know everything and I can't talk any commonsense into them. P.S. It's just music...no deep meanings need be involved.

danceme56 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Everyone's so deep here and makes everything so complicated. I feel like the only one here that just likes the song...

AlexBkatzmann Says:

May 21, 2012 - the real tuning is about 450 or 460 from standard E up one tone to standard F#

chanty666ful Says:

May 23, 2012 - man, this is so fucking true. I love the smiths more than my life, almost, and I'm only 14 edfgyeasifuse

begood20000 Says:

May 26, 2012 - The Smiths were a rarity. There were a lot of really terrible bands in the 80's but yes it's worse now. It's all Simon Cowell's fault. When Morrissey singing hang the DJ eerily applies to Simon Cowell today.

wendyamori Says:

May 27, 2012 - MY FAVORITE SONG FROM THE SMITHS! It's a beautiful song!

cetko13 Says:

May 28, 2012 - they didn't. keep digging!

tbcjoe Says:

May 28, 2012 - I don't think that, if you have to "dig" to find good music, it is worth the effort. I can just come to Youtube and hear all the exceptional music I don't have to hunt for. If anybody can tell me that there is anything close to as good as the "Smiths" out there, right now.......I will be more than willing to admit that I was wrong.
