Description:
Complete video at: http://fora.tv/2010/06/04/Christopher_Hitchens_Some_Confessions_and_ContradictionsAuthor Christopher Hitchens discusses his views on the May, 2010 Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. He argues that while the Gaza occupation is unjust, the activists on the flotilla most likely had ulterior motives.-----Christopher Hitchens, tackling nearly everything with unmatched enthusiasm, erudition and, at times venom, has up to now barely touched upon one subject: his own life. After many years writing about world issues and traveling to some of the most dangerous places on the planet, comes his memoir Hitch-22. Though Hitchens can navigate any argument with great dexterity, his memoir focuses on those whom he has loved, those he has abhorred, and those who have helped shape him throughout his life. The memoir answers this question: How the hell did Christopher Hitchens become Christopher Hitchens? With tenderness he writes about his parents -- his mother Yvonne, in particular, "a beautiful woman who loves me" and about his father, Commander Hitchens, whose "liver was that of a hero." In a form that is anything but shy, Hitchens describes his complex and warm relationship with his mother, whose Jewish heritage he discovered only after her suicide. The memoir naturally touches upon friendships, both lost and found over the course of his life. Hitchens' many sketches of friendships and ex-friendships from Martin Amis to Noam Chomsky, Edward Said to Gore Vidal are delivered in a style that is at once ironic, witty and tough-minded. A legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for literature, Hitchens has at times ridiculed those who claim the personal is political, even though he has often seemed to illustrate that very idea.Paul Holdengräber, in conversation with Hitchens, will goad him to help bring into focus the many sides of Hitch, thereby illustrating Robert Frost's dictum that "a liberal is a man too broad-minded to take his own side in a quarrel." - New York Public Library

May 3, 2012 - Most- if not all- Israeli citizens are foreign immigrants from America and Europe. Two thirds of Israelis carry a second passport. Palestine is the home of the Palestinians that was stolen.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 3, 2012 - Palestine is a Roman name given to the area, originally called Syria Palaestina. It's an invented name and has no bearing on who owns the land, which is the Israelites. There are no such thing as palestinians, only Arabs. Most of the Arabs in Gaza are actually Jordanians. If you look up the archaeological evidence, it's clear. That's aside from the Torah.
mohamadaqil Says:
May 3, 2012 - The Tora isnt valid evidence. All modern historians have agreed that the first settlers in Palestine were the Arab caanites when they came in 1550. The Jews came later. It's not a question of which state existed first, it's who was there first. The Jews can live with us, wed be honoured. But dont steal our land and persecute us
jojo2mag Says:
May 3, 2012 - If you'd actualy listen, you would hear that he is neither pro or anti Israli or Palistinian. He argues both side and what both side are doing wrong and what BOTH sides need to do to solve some of this mess.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 3, 2012 - Actually the Torah is valid evidence but you just don't like it. Even your holy book recognizes Israelites and their land Israel. Nobody persecutes you except you and your governments. You just want someone to hate and it's Jews. You should spend more time self determining and less time hating on Israel. You're just wasting your time while Israel grows things never dreamed of. Stew all you want. It's not changing the facts.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 3, 2012 - If you would like to read a fantastic book called The Case for Israel by Alan Dershowitz I will send it to you in pdf form. Just send me your email addy. This is a serious history lesson. My Rabbi recommended this book to me and it's fantastic.
contacter Says:
May 3, 2012 - For fucks sake Israel and Israelis stop dicking the Palestinians around.
mohamadaqil Says:
May 4, 2012 - The Torah has been changed over time. The Quran recognises that the Jews were allowed to come and LIVE in Palestine, not force out the existing people. The Quran doesnt recognise Israel, it recognises "banu Isra'eel" (the descendants of Jacob). We dont want to hate anyone. We just want our land back and our rights restored. Jews claim to have lived in Palestine since Abraham PBUH....but who was already there before abraham? The ARABS.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 4, 2012 - The Torah has not changed. And if you want me to quote the Quran verses I will. It states that Israel belongs to the Jews, not to Arabs. When the partition plan was being drafted you Arabs got a HUGE chunk of Israel and you still said NO. If you wanted a two state solution you would've accepted the last what? 4 offers? But you never do. You want ALL of Israel and you accept your terrorist government. Stop blaming everything on us.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 4, 2012 - Oh and what about the Jewish pull out of Gaza. Was there any peace then? You people just don't want peace. You want to continue to fire rockets on innocent civilians and suicide bomb kids, continually turn your noses up at a 2 state solution, and blame Israel for every problem in your life. I say again, grow up.
mohamadaqil Says:
May 4, 2012 - Gaza's nothing bro. You still need to pull out of the West Bank and occupied Palestine. It's Arab land. The Palestinians will never stop fighting until their rights are fully restored. If there's no justice then there's no peace. Simple. And I need to grow up because I state facts? Get a life.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 4, 2012 - You state the truth about wanting all of Israel and not wanting a 2 state solution. Now if more of you would stop showboating and telling us all how you REALLY feel about Jews in their own land then maybe the dumb left would stop supporting your "let's kill all Jews' idea and see the truth about the hateful murderers that you really are.
mohamadaqil Says:
May 4, 2012 - Palestinians arent against jews because theyre jews, its because theyre foreign occupiers. The 2 state solution is not a just solution therefore they wont accept it. If someone stole your home would you accept for only half of it to be given back to you? No, same thing here. The Jews can live with us, but under a just solution.
GirlonFilm1969 Says:
May 4, 2012 - Keep typing. It's showing you for what you are. Like I said, you don't want a 2 state solution. You want ALL of Israel. Too bad, you can't have it.
mohamadaqil Says:
May 4, 2012 - So by stating facts Im showing what I am? This debate was about who the land belonged to and looking at both sides, its clear that it belongs to the Arabs and one day it WILL be free whether you like it or not.
erwillrockn Says:
May 6, 2012 - this "journalist" calls himself independent even though he is totally biased and takes on people who tell the trueth about what is happening in the palastinien-israeli situation.typically full of hypocrites crap ass western media.
bywukime Says:
May 7, 2012 - IHH and Hamas - terrorists.Hitch you will be missed.
marburg9 Says:
May 9, 2012 - Probably the MOST idiotic and repulsive Hitchens clip, from the thousands of drunken, vile rants this goof ball delivered to adoring fellow Nazis everywhere. Good riddance, lout.
mrnatascorpus Says:
May 12, 2012 - if you think someone as enlightened and intelligent as hitchens is a repulsive Nazi you have some serious explaining to do....
577666 Says:
May 13, 2012 - Hitch is great. He speaks the truth and anyone who is hurt, I would say, obviously has a guilty conscience, or, is so brain conditioned that they cannot see their way out.

May 13, 2012 - I am an Israeli and I will never forget all the good the Hitchens had done for this world. he was a big critic of my country and I respect his criticism. he was truly trying to make this world better and he did make me a better person I believe, and many others.
jonny7748 Says:
May 25, 2012 - As another Israeli, his criticism was healthy and acceptable. He never singled out any specific religion, he pointed out that all are disgusting. He also did this fairly. I hope people do not just listen to this and take him out of context. Israel will be all the better off the day it chooses to really set an example for the world and removes all religion and creates a secular constitution for all. Keep in mind, Sharia courts take place in Israel as well. It is time for real change.
Samsgarden Says:
May 25, 2012 - lol, that's his least admirable trait. But it's so cool to be an antitheist today isn't it?
