This is true, but he was also a US citizen. We debated whether to include him in the vid or not, but given that the telephone was patented in the US and that so much of Bell's work took place in Boston, we felt it was more than fair to include him as a part of US history. (Besides, we didn't really want to cut that joke out of the script.)
