Oct 28, 2009 - Actually, when progressive issues are presented with conviction and clarity, people tend to gravitate toward them because a lot of the time they're common sense things (Don't spend money on a bomber we never used when you can spend it on something like education for the country's future or food stamps which stimulate the economy.) Conservatism on the other hand appeals to our self interested nature (I don't want my taxes spent on things that dont directly benefit me!) so it ebbs and flows.

This woman makes an honest if emotional appeal to both anecdote and statistics and gets a cold reception.This summer a woman compares health care reform to Nazism and gets a "what planet are you on?" reception.I don't see how anyone could sympathize more with Michael Steele than with Barney Frank, given the circumstances the two were confronted with.

Dec 7, 2009 - There's a difference between someone sharing a personal story of loss and someone making a completely ridiculous and illogical comparison. If the Nazi lady had initiated her screeching with a personal story of loss, I'm sure Barney Frank wouldn't have given her such a smackdown.But the comparison of socialized health care and Nazism is stupid. Especially as socialized health care is used in many nations around the world, none of which are under a Nazi regime.
