May 2, 2012 - i know alot of people like to push the idea that people that care about their freedom are road warriors that want to club your granny in the head, but they are just products of government brainwashing of course, ruled by fear, and generally illogical defenders of their slavery.. governments and kings always want their subjects thinking that their slavery to them are not only a benefit, but necessary.. they like to keep people clinging to them and always afraid to lose their rule
ContradictoryNature Says:
May 3, 2012 - Which government is it you're referring to, or is that some sort of cosmic truth? And what's your alternative, exactly?
cateattingmonster0 Says:

May 10, 2012 - I like your alternative. It's simple and uncomplicated, and the only flaw I can identify is a moob epidemic.

May 24, 2012 - WOW! This is happening again this very day! Can we not learn from the past? The rich become mega rich while the poor become mega poor! We still have a middle class (I'm one), but for how long? It's ether become rich or become poor! Soon there will be no other choice!

Aethelhald Says:
May 27, 2012 - Are you suggesting that somehow a "Latin" could learn and then tell Roman history better than somebody else? You also mention "an inhabitant". I assume you mean... a Roman? Well, I'm sorry to break it to you but they're a dead people. No more. At one point in history even the city of Rome was reduced to less than 5,000 people after the Normans ravaged it.
SUPERVICTOR101 Says:

TheHelo10 Says:
May 29, 2012 - 48.33 gotta love the ending words of this doc. the Roman system sounds a lot like a certain north american capitalist nation of today, minus the slavery. "How Rome was run as a mafia like business, of senators worth 30 million, who supported a system that let the poor go to the war, while they supported free trade and low taxes for business men." Sound like an all too familiar state of today? :p
Hotshotter3000 Says:
May 29, 2012 - They do still enslave people. Chattle slavery doesn't exist, but there's debt slavery and wage slavery. They arrange the system to be as such that most people's wages will have to drop in order to remain 'competitive'. In China, they're still being made to work extremely long hours and work for practically peanuts. Those who benefit are those at the very top.
Hotshotter3000 Says:
May 29, 2012 - This is because people are too ingrained in the system. It's extremely easy to look back in time and be knowledgeable, but to do so in the current period is extremely difficult and complex... as it was for the Ancient Romans themselves. It's really sad, but unless something big happens soon, the modern world will go the way of Ancient Rome, and for all we know, people 1000 years from now will look at us with the same feelings of Romanticism and mysticism as we do to the Romans.

ContradictoryNature Says:
May 2, 2012 - Because libertarianism and/or anarchy has always resulted in wonderful, happy, equal, content societies.
