He was a member of the Trilateral Commission and the Council for Foreign Relations, the intellectual forefronts of the globalist elite. He was on Carter's National Security Council. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia may be examples of Muslim states not all that hostile to the West, but the Taliban, al Qaeda, and so on do have a fundamentally different vision for society and the world. This goes back to Sayyid Qutb, who's writings on American culture greatly influenced the Jihadists. Its also true that the Jihadists hate us for what we do, in addition to who we are.

It is somewhat amusing but at the same time devastatingly saddening that people don't even reflect on the fact that the Taliban was a paramilitary love child of the US.
