May 3, 2012 - What I said: Even with a cultural and economic superiority, the countries using the imperial system were unable to convince anyone it was a good system and even the former british territories adopted the metric system. I never tried to assert the superiority of anyone. Congratulations, you can't read. It's usually best to read a comment entirely before you write an answer if you don't want to look like a complete tool. The funniest thing being I'm neither american nor british...

May 5, 2012 - Based on what? No evidence of metric being official in Belize. Regardless, metric is not enforced and rarely used. Temperature there seems to be officially in Fahrenheit.Granted, Liberia and Burma are much more respectable companions;-)

May 5, 2012 - try wikipedia. look for Metrication
LasagnaIsGood Says:
May 8, 2012 - imperial for manufacturing and architecture, metric for science(chem, physics etc.). Imperial is my fav though : )
Borat911 Says:
May 9, 2012 - It doesn't really matter ... whatever you're used to ... for daily use it's whatever your neighbours use i guess to avoid confusions ... but in science most engineers and scietists use the metric system because it's the most practical and more accurate for calculations

treehugger99999 Says:
May 16, 2012 - Really? Imperial is for advanced mathematics? I'm sure that's why metric is the international scientific standard. Even American scientists who want their work published internationally (and who wouldn't?) use metric. It just makes sense.
treehugger99999 Says:
May 16, 2012 - kilometers/hour

May 17, 2012 - What's the point of complicating things? Simple is best.

Artanis99 Says:
May 25, 2012 - Point isn't how much you use your brain, but how efficiently. While you waste your time and brainpower on conversions. Someone with simple system already moves on to solve the problem.
Artanis99 Says:
May 25, 2012 - Then by your logic addition is advanced mathematics. Here you have one "advanced problem".1100(2)+d(16)+21(12)=?(10)For everyone else12+13+25=?And to give our colleauge more time to do "advanced" mathematics we should also do this one(25x-14)^2=32-sqrt 3844x=?
