Apr 15, 2011 - Who cares. It is just Africa. Why worry about it? They all die, Glorious West can get all materials and dump waste. Win win situation. Had this been about Zuid-Afrika(only good African country)I would be far more worried. What we should do is remove all gold, silver, platinum and aliminium that can be easily recovered from this garbage. Let them have the plastic.

Apr 17, 2011 - Its not just you or me or some other country, But its we, us and our only home the planet. Countries are specific to politicians who thrive on our blood and sweat!

Skyetchsolutions Says:

May 8, 2011 - GOVERNMENTS should be the 1 who should start taking the 1st step to work out with all the manufacturers for solutions to have the waste properly recycled. No parties should just made MONEY and forget about the waste that they invented/created in the 1st place. Typical GOVERNMENTS always pushes all their waste to the poor at a very low cost, making them even poorer to do the jobs.

May 28, 2011 - Someone wanted $75 to haul away my TV and all they said was they would dispose of it. I found a company in the city I live in who will pick it up, recycle it 100% in the United States, and make new electronics (and computers for schools) for free. You just need to look for these companies. It is Dayton Computer Recycling for those who want to know.

retroworks1 Says:

Sep 3, 2011 - This is an unintentionally racist video by Greenpeace. Exhaustive documentation of the WEEE import trade in Ghana shows that 85% is reused, and what is shown in the film is residue (15%) or exhausted product. Look at the video of used TVs unloaded in this very video, carefully wrapped in plastic. The video implies that everyone who goes to a hospital winds up directly at the morgue. Interview the Techs and Geeks who buy and fix this, Greenpeace.

ale03000 Says:

Sep 13, 2011 - So why don't people use the electronic products they bought with their hard earned money as long as possible? More money could be saved for more important things such as food, houses, cars or even renewable energy investment. More 'educated' people need to learn the true meaning of 3 Rs most importantly RECYCLE instead of throwing everything to landfills...... Learn to be responsible to our own kind (humans), apart from the environment...........

MuayThaiBeatdown Says:

Jan 28, 2012 - This is exporting useless junk to poor countries and not much more. It is illegal for some countries to do it, but there is no enforcement of the laws. Once again useless laws on the books that are not followed or enforced upon.

naszawaszaich Says:

Feb 15, 2012 - jakoś te skurwiałe organizacje międzynarodowe nic z tym nie robią. Ale Unia ogranicza sprzedaż mleka. fuck

ndutz01 Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - Hi, I am writing a major paper on this. If you still active on youtube would you please point me to these reports you are referring to? I haven't come across any in my literature review. Most of the evidence i have found agrees with Greenpeace. The shrink-wrapping of TVs is for shipment purposes only. I also don't see the racist connection? African leaders want this ewaste business yet they don't provide the proper tools for the workers. We cannot afford to make this an issue of race.

retroworks1 Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - This was at best a well-meaning mistake, at worst a hoax. Greenpeace and others were quick to believe that African equipment buyers were burning stuff at the dump. UNEP and Basel Convention just funded 2 year studies which found that 85% of what is imported is reused or repaired by African techs, and 80% of what is shown burned at the dump was generated by Africans in cities (if imported, it was used for years). google e-waste ghana hoax
