Most bands lip sync in the music videos, although I think there are a few where they actually play the song when recording, though it's still covered up and replaced with the pre-recorded version, like you said, to get the best quality. He was saying that someone outside of the band sang the songs and then HU took credit for it. Not sure if you misread his comment or if I misread yours.
