Title: Meditation on Violence 1 part
Added: Dec 4, 2007
Author: artpopulus
Duration: 6:52
Description:
Maya DerenIn Meditation on Violence (1948) Deren's camera is motivated by the movement of the performer, Chao Li Chi. This film is marked by a lack of dynamism and mobility that we have come to expect from Deren's camera. It also obscures the distinction between violence and beauty. The shadows on the white wall behind Chi amplify the movement of the Wu Tang ritual. In Meditation on Violence Deren experiments with film time, reversing the film part way through producing a loop. Exhibited forwards and then backwards, the difference in the Wu Tang movements is almost imperceptible. the film & text are from:http://www.ubu.com/film/deren.html

Apr 25, 2008 - As far as i can make out he starts with a form of tai chi then he goes into the first form of Hung Keun (standing tall thrusting his arms about and sinking to low horse stances) then I think the he performs the Lau Gar Keun form as well but i'm probably wrong.

Jan 4, 2010 - Chao Li Chi. He was on the TV series Falcon Crest in the 1980's as the loyal and dignified butler of Angela Channing (Jane Wyman). Also in the movie Joy Luck Club (early 90's).His character on Falcon Crest was a stereotype of the wise, inscrutable Chinese gentleman (like Charlie Chan), but with more class than the servant character Hop Sing on Bonanza in the 60's.

Sep 22, 2010 - tienes razón - es precisamente por eso que estoy disfrutando tanto de youtube estos dias - cierta nostalgia por una tele de cultura profunda y un acceso a las mejores obras en video hace de yt imprescindible.
