Six distinguished University of Minnesota professors from fields ranging from African Studies to surgery, come together to examine current perspectives in U.S. history. Jul 21, 2011 - At 4min. They talk about the three things in the US foreign policy. While they mention the reasons for the first two they never explain the third. So - please anyone - Why US supports Israel - when it is against our interests? I will appreciate real answers not the cliché like Israel is democracy. It is not like Saudi Arabia is not, but is a brutal monarchy, but we support it too - so what is it?

oldstock1607 Says:

Aug 3, 2011 - There are a number of reasons: 1. Our government, (senate, house, local governments) contain very prominent, influential, wealthy pro-Israel jews, 2. The judeo-christian tradition: many religious Americans buy the belief that Jews are chosen of god, and that aiding them is a religious duty. 3. Jews are heavily involved in every concievable form of American media, and many use this outlet to steer easily-influenced americans into a pro-Israeli stance. Israeli scientists are always on

oldstock1607 Says:

Aug 3, 2011 - the cutting edge of military (and other) technology, and they willingly share this with the U.S. Abandoning Israel would jeapordize this, and finally, (and not surprisingly) Money. If the U.S. were to withdraw its unqualified support from Israel, wealthy Jews would destroy America economically, as they have done to other nations in centuries past.

pumpadour Says:

Aug 6, 2011 - @oldstock1607So we are manipulated by the jews to the point of becoming their voluntary slaves? I thought so...

oldstock1607 Says:

Aug 6, 2011 - Essentially. For those to whom it isn't "vountary" it is involuntary (economic.) The U.S. is already on the verge of economic ruin. Alienating the Jews at this point would be absolutely calamitous.

Sep 13, 2011 - How many homosexual presidents have we had in the United States? I mean "had" in the following sense: How many gays have been president?

pierce464 Says:

Sep 15, 2011 - This is not history. This is opinion.

Brittniepimental Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - America does have history perhaps not as much as England but that does not mean it does not have any. Of course being Italian I can also say that compared to Italy, England has very little history.

guiness10 Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - I think shes made some fair points but america has too much blood on its hands to fit into 26 mins ......vietnam, hiroshima, grenada, cuba, Lady F***ing Gaga etc etc

cutecynthia Says:

May 7, 2012 - And also the war of 1812, War of Independence that is really crazy and you are soo right!

Eric Chang Says:

May 10, 2012 - Actually, she specifically only refers to World War II when she says the U.S. never had fighting on its soil except for Pearl Harbor. Also, Hawaii was annexed in the late 1880's and became a U.S. territory until 1959, when it became a full fledged state. Hawaii was just as much U.S. soil back then as the territory of Puerto Rico is today.

Eric Chang Says:

May 10, 2012 - I'm sorry but maybe you should do some of your own research before berating a history professor. While you're correct that Hawaii became a state after the war in 1959, during WWII, Hawaii was a territory of the U.S. so in actuality, Hawaii was U.S. soil. Hawaii was actually annexed back in the late 1880's and early 1890's with the overthrow of Queen Liliʻuokalani.
