The unflavored non-multigrain unsweetened just-oats oatmeal is a good start (Don't want something that's got a gritty texture, blech). The key is to add much more water than the package demands, and microwave it longer as a result, stirring every 30 seconds. From there you can add whatever you want. The other day I had chopped strawberries and banana with cinnamon. No grinding, no pots.

May 13, 2012 - Of course, I understand that freshly-ground oats will probably taste better, but I've never had those. (I'm a recovering food slob, so I'm about to go try cooking pre-ground oats in a pot for the first time). My instant oatmeal biz takes about 3 minutes from opening the packet to eating. If I get a coffee grinder, I'll certainly try freshly-ground oats. Thanks for the tips on flavors!
