Feb 20, 2012 - Zombie is an eclectic sort of dude, with a sense of humour...as close as we could get to Zappa in the mid Nineties...in a B-Movie sort of way.
blacknganga Says:
Feb 20, 2012 - There is definitely cenceptual continuity between Zappa and Zombie - There are few individuals who warrant a comparison to Zappa, and Zombie is definitely one of them... both of them have a "pan-ness" to their material - in other words, they aren't afraid to touch any type of music, where as most artists only find success by pursuing a very narrow spirit/vibe within the culture...wise opinions, man!
blacknganga Says:
Feb 20, 2012 - If you can't see conceptual continuity between Zappa and Zombie, then maybe you really don't get Zappa at all?... you can't see a STRONG B-culture theme within Zappa's work? Rob Zombie is a lot more complex than you realise, I think. Zappa was also classifiable in many other ways as merely "avant garde"

Feb 23, 2012 - I always liked Mike Douglas, and have been a fan of Frank's for some time. This a real treat to have them talking on Alice Cooper. Awesome!
eqsmooth Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - Why would anyone think to bring up Rob Zombie when Zappa is educating us? Its like watching George Carlin and someone compares him to Dane Cook. Fuckin' idiots.
JohnAllanification Says:
Feb 27, 2012 - Grand Funk produced by Frank Zappa is on my bucket-list.just the idea of it seem's amazing. if anyone has an opinion on 'Good singing Good playing (i think it was call'd),i'm open to hearing abt it.Thank you.
DarkZekeX Says:
Feb 29, 2012 - okay... I'm not a huge Rob Zombie fan, but there's hyperbole, and then there's comparing people to Dane Cook. Rob Zombie is not that bad.
DarkZekeX Says:
Feb 29, 2012 - what about Les Claypool?
eqsmooth Says:
Feb 29, 2012 - He's bad enough for me to have forgotten him after just one album I bought many years ago. But I get your point.
blacknganga Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - Um, a bit like the sister band of tool... Rob Zombie is more important than that, just like he's more important than Manson, Reznor and Placebo. He's as important as Faith No More, Buttholes, Beck and Ministry...
blacknganga Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - In fact, Gibby Haynes is about as close as an Eighties/Nineties artist could be to being Frank Zappa.
Mr1tolduso Says:
Mar 4, 2012 - All you people comparing Zappa to Rob Zombie are ridiculous, at least compare him to someone closer to his musical style like Serj Tankian
copihue00 Says:

mistermangetout Says:
Mar 13, 2012 - Frank Zappa knew a thing or two and knew a good thing when he saw one.
Gregorypeckory Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - Old enough to remember when Hendrix was filed under the label "underground" in my local music store. Old enough to remember when everyone talked about the same show, because it was all that was worth watching the previous evening. No I am not kidding; I don't know how you measure "real impact". Maybe internet choices don't have "real impact", but to all the musicians I know, it has been fantastic. It's opened up the world for anyone with a laptop and connection.
UnYin99 Says:
Mar 29, 2012 - Some people's level of musical sophistication is such that it can cause them to confuse the musical ability of Zappa and Zombie. Since your musical palate enables you to discriminate between the two, you should be able to understand the futility of attempting to force people into understanding the difference. Until they refine their understanding, it is a pointless exercise. So just Shut Up And Play Your Guitar. ¦---{ı

Apr 1, 2012 - frank is god
metamorphosis67 Says:
Apr 8, 2012 - Serj Tankian ? You mean that guy from System of a Clown ? That's a friggin laugh ! Serge isn't a pimple on Zappa's ass in terms of musical ability or anything else. Zappa was light years ahead of guys like him already in 1966 with the first Mothers album. The only thing they have in common is facial hair.
metamorphosis67 Says:
Apr 8, 2012 - All of these mediocre poseurs you just mentioned put together aren't a hair on Zappa's left nut. Beck is maybe a pimple but that's about it. Grow up and listen to real music. Start with "The Adventures of Gregarry Peccary" from the Studio Tan / Lather albums.
blacknganga Says:
Apr 12, 2012 - Don't be a codescending knob; don't assume that I listen to the music I mentioned; I put it to you that you don't really know music if you can't see why I'd mention The Butthole Surfers, Faith No More, Beck And Rob Zombie in the same sentence as Frank Zappa! It would be like mentioning Christian Death, Bauhaus, Japan and The New York Dolls in the same sentence as Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground; no doubt something far too sophisticated foy yourself.
Croutonza Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - everybody just smoke a joint and listen to the music you prefer and not worry about what other people think.....
AmalamCooper Says:
May 10, 2012 - Oh Zappa, I have so much to thank you for; just for giving Alice and the band a chance!and for being a superb musician, of course.
Mr1tolduso Says:
May 22, 2012 - His solo stuff is pretty much the only recent music Ive heard that didn't make me want to vomit. I grew up on Zappa but Serj is definitely a very talented musician.
