"space-time" refers to all four coordinates in space-time, (x,y,z,-ct), where the fourth element is the velocity of light times time, so it is a distance like x,y,z.

The speed of light is used because it is Lorentz invariant under transformations.Also, ct is not negative. Only when calculating the invariant interval is time inversed.

May 16, 2012 - The fourth dimension is technically movement/displacement. But as any amount of movement from any object requires time, the fourth dimension can be described as time. No object can be displaced without spending time to do so, so in essence, movement IS time. This is demonstrated by the theory of relativity when an object moving at a much faster speed experiences time slower. So the faster you move, the faster through time you travel. 3 dimensional space cannot account for time nor movement.
