Sure the strumming pattern might be a little different but that major to relative minor chord progression is the same, vocal melody is very similar as well. Christ, it even has that same surfer vibe that Sugar Ray had! You're delusional if you think this guy (or his songwriter) didn't know they were ripping that shit off when they wrote this!
