Description:
More information is available at http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/02/howto_tuesday_arduino_101_blink_an_led.htmlThis week I am going to be starting a series about getting started with the Arduino. A few weeks ago I posted a quick how-to on using a force sensor and received a lot of positive feedback. This led me to the idea of a creating a series of how-to's about our favorite little micro-controller, the Arduino. We have lots of Arduino's in the Maker Shed http://www.makershed.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=43

billynightmare Says:

Dec 23, 2011 - I have a noob question about code, do I type in int ledpin = 13 or do i type in int ledpin = 13 // LED connected to digital pin 13? do I leave the // out?

Slimduckdad Says:

Dec 23, 2011 - the // signifies that anything following is just a comment and does not affect the actual programming

Dec 23, 2011 - thanks for a quick reply, I am a total novice and insted of "copy & paste" code I would like to type it out, makes me learn what im typing in, just not having to type everything after // makes life easyer and faster, thanks again :)

DannickFox Says:

Dec 27, 2011 - puedes ir al sitio arduino(punto)cc y alli tienen donde descargar el software y ademas puedes comprar de ellos. Si no tienes manera de comprar por internet, tambien tienen una lista internacional de distribuidores.

Jan 12, 2012 - lol i have them all >:D EVEN THE SHIELDS lol im sellin them for 99% off

MinecraftTechnic Says:

Jan 22, 2012 - This is not a microcontroller, a microcontroller platform. The microcontroller is the Atmega328

lBonaCl Says:

Jan 27, 2012 - @makemagazine Well... That's going to burn the Arduino's output... Use a resistor.

iEugene1994 Says:

Feb 1, 2012 - The hell there is so much LED blinker tutorials ?!

SniperRulez89 Says:

Feb 2, 2012 - hi, listen 2:20

Simcore999 Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - :-J It's not a 'void loop', it a function named 'loop' that returns a 'void' result when it is called via the code and it would have been nice to know what the values of the 'constants' high/ low are set to

lBonaCl Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - Too bad when you look at the schematics, you will see that the resistor has it's own ground. The resistor only works with the tiny LED on the board. (Do a google search: "arduino duemilanove schematic brittonkerin") I have burned couple arduinos because of it. As you see there's no resistor if you connect pin 13 to the ground. It works for some time, but it will eventually burn pin 13. Always use a resistor with LEDs. I say it's better to be safe than sorry.

Mar 5, 2012 - Also infront of Pin 13 we have a smd led right?

Mar 7, 2012 - my arduino software will not allow me to change my com port and i need to change it to upload the software

Mar 13, 2012 - hey make! why are you not partners? you're missing out on big money!

dinetsandrew Says:

Apr 14, 2012 - study real MCU!!!!

MrPeterpott Says:

May 9, 2012 - Sad. He goes into detail about the code - then when it comes to downloading the code it's all buzz words that are not explained. If you are going to do a basic tutorial please do not assume people are software engineers.

MolecularArchitect Says:

May 22, 2012 - He explained that you can get the Arduino software from the site, which contains everything needed for the installation. I think my grandmother could follow those instructions.
