It was a guy from Grants Pass, Oregon who first went over the Widow Maker in the early 70's.The guys nowadays have so much better equipment than we had then. 7" of travel on the front and 3" or 4" on the back was big time! The power that the new machines put out is unbelievable. Oh, to be young again. I wouldn't trade those motorcycle days for anything, not the back fusions or the hip/knee replacements!

Feb 9, 2012 - Thanks! The dirt out there is really forgiving, I am sure if you spent any amount of time out there you would be climbing stuff like that. It is a great place to learn because there are so many terraces that go to vert and even past vert so you can get good at jumping up really steep stuff.

Feb 19, 2012 - Yeah on any sunday is one of my favourite bike movies...i remember watching it when i was about 5 or 6...23 years later i still love to watch it from time to time. When i watch it these days I think....these guys really had it tough,true motorcrossers that's for sure! Yeah that 4' shock travel and 7' fork travel....i'm trying to get my head around it....clang bang thump.
