Feb 3, 2012 - WTF? Ad for obama? is there some allusion to the way we should view him, ie.,when he said we "should eat our peas" and that "americans are lazy".Great song, cheap way for obama to flatter himself.

Feb 29, 2012 - Just for the record, Bobbi Gentry wrote this song. Dusty made it famous, and the arrangement was certainly more soulful, but, folks, THIS is actually the original.

mydayisnight Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - No sir , It was written by John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins , recorded the first time by Dusty springfield in 1968 . Trivia : It was added to "Dusty Memphis" album .
dtvidman2005 Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - I stand corrected, sir. Bobbie's version was released in '69. Not real sure now why I believed that she wrote it all these years. Maybe because I grew up with this version playing in our house, and knowing that Bobbie wrote much of her own music. (Turns out that was incorrect as well...) For the record, I DID know it wasn't originally to appear on Dusty's album.

May 14, 2012 - I love this version. In 1969 Bobbie and Dusty both peaked at #96 on the top 200 album chart with their respective releases. Dusty's " Dusty In Memphis' and Bobbie's 'Fancy'. Hey Bobbie fans: bbc2 radio has just released a one hour radio program titled"What Ever Happened To Bobbie Gentry". Hosted by Roseanne Cash, with commentary from Rick Hall and The Fame Recording session musicans, Lucinda Willams, Shelby Lynn, Jimme Haskell( Bobbie's famed arranger) and.Roger Cameron.

Dec 24, 2011 - I don't understand the negative comments. Yes, Dusty's is the definitive version (no question), but Bobbie- a great talent in her own right- does a very nice version here...
