Jan 20, 2012 - I'm not sure what crinoline is or why a dream would be clothed in it, but the words are pretty, the sentiment is lovely... just young love to me... and it was masterfully sung by Garfunkle. I assume the cameraman cuts to Simon at the close because he's the more emotional of the two toward the end. About the "fat mug" comment, sorry, Simon was a serious cutie pie. Full mouth, gorgeous thick thighs... all anybody needs is two beautiful feautres and they're sex pots in my book.

Jan 23, 2012 - @brelfan crinoline is the stiff fluffy net fabric that makes a dressy dress stick out. when i was a girl. as a little girl, i wore scratchy, starched crinoline petticoats (slips) under my dresses for that fluffy look. in high school, for proms, when fluffy dresses were still popular, it would be the underskirt and possibly a finer version over the dress. for more fluff. it's a very romantic element of the song.

We had racks in an open squadbay where there were typically at least a few other Marines milling about. To help drown out whatever noise there was, I would have my cassette player going with headphones on until I fell asleep. It sounds silly, looking back. Their music had such an impact on a young Marine's life. Who would have guessed.
