Title: Rigging a Sit-In Fishing Kayak: Episode 10

Added: Sep 13, 2007

Author: fishyaker

Duration: 1:48

Description:
In this episode, John "Toast" Oast of Fishyaker.com walks through the rigging of a sit-in kayak, when used for back country kayak fishing. A sit-inside recreational kayak is a great platform for fishing in small bodies of water, small flowing rivers and streams, and cypress swamps. Some of the important equipment would include a GPS unit and survey ribbon, to keep the paddler from becoming lost. Loppers or clippers aid in removing overhanging branches. If paddling in secluded areas, always remember to pack everything you "might" need, and let someone know how long you plan to be on the water.

Apr 7, 2008 - First Off Nice Basic setup!!I always keep my Garmin 60csx GPS with me at all times. Also a good thing to bring with you is a spring clamp one you can pick up in a local hardware store, I use it when I get close to land with over hanging branches I clamp myself to the branches attached with a rope so i can fish close to some of the banks.Love your videos.Keep up the great work.

May 18, 2008 - why do you have garden pruning shears?sp?

fishyaker Says:

May 18, 2008 - The shears help to get way back in the "bush". When we do a lot of our fresh water kayak fishing, we need to get into some really tight quarters. :)

Apr 25, 2009 - The puck is mounted inside the kayak, and shoots through-hull. It is just behind the seat, centered.

Aug 20, 2009 - Anybody know anything on the Featherlite 9.5 Angler?

Jan 10, 2010 - I have a Pamlico 100 and love it. The Pamlicos have a huge cokpit... do you have problems reaching your sonar where you have it mounted? I am thinking of mounting a RAM mount in the cup holder so it is nice and close. Did you mount your transducer inside the hull?
