Title: The Future Internet: Service Web 3.0

Added: Oct 15, 2009

Author: semantictechnology

Duration: 5:48

Description:
Future Internet - Supported by STI International: http://www.sti2.orgWith over a billion users, today's Internet is arguably the most successful human artifact ever created. The Future Internet, an initiative driven by the European Union, has become a prime research focus of STI International and the Service Web 3.0 project. In order to explain, promote, and attract new contributors, we created a video to be viewed by stakeholders, who may be non-experts, in a new generation Internet. The video outlines the basic themes of the European Union's Future Internet initiative. These include: an Internet of Services, where services are ubiquitous; an Internet of Things where in principle every physical object becomes an online addressable resource; a Mobile Internet where 24/7 seamless connectivity over multiple devices is the norm; and the need for semantics in order to meet the challenges presented by the dramatic increase in the scale of content and users.Supported by STI International: http://www.sti2.org

Mar 22, 2012 - This is an advert - so it makes it seem like things are not right so that their product can correct it... everything is in fact - ok

micmccond7 Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - i still don't get it... does it make information separated by language or culture follow a generalized standard much the way physics, chemistry and math can be understood by scientists who may be inhibited by their proficiency in a particular language...if so. Huraaay! i can finally understand those people babbling away in another language in a video game!

taddle112 Says:

Mar 27, 2012 - Not an ad. This is the future. Web 3.0 is not a product, but a way of life. Things from our socks to our homes could be connected for many reasons

Apr 11, 2012 - HOW STUPID, I NOT GOING TO WASTE MY TIME ON THIS CRAP. I'M GOING TO STAY OFF THE GRID.

piolenc Says:

Apr 11, 2012 - For something that is "broken," the current Internet is pretty damn' good. This call for semantic technology seems like a call to empower, not individual intelligent users, but vast corporate entities pursuing their not necessarily benign purposes. I know what I mean by "bank," and I am intelligent enough to find the appropriate term to access a database on the subject of finanancial institutions. Semantical disambiguation of "bank" is only useful for allowing stupid machines to mine data.

dtashley Says:

Apr 11, 2012 - I agree. This video is pure crap. It is just a bunch of icons with labels from an operating system or distributed operating system textbook randomly attached. They do not give an example of how the current Internet is "broken" or how they would "fix" it. Like you, I can still find banks just fine. Not bad for a broken Internet.

saxxi Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - And then, inevitably, the rise of the machines.

666alberto Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - franz hollavs not such a wondeful lightning

thomascow1 Says:

Apr 17, 2012 - It is possible that the people can take back the net without the mafia & so called servers, providers & all others hidden policeing . It is, I know it is Its just a matter of all agreeing, and kicking the arse out of money making schemers., the sort of double talk that you hand out, keeps the net were you want it as a piggy bank.

GERUWEB Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - When 3D no longer needs particular hardware to watch, like the 3d-glasses today.

GERUWEB Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - The only thing i can absolutely agree with is that it would be great if every relevant information on this planet would only exist once. With free access from and for everybody. That will be a right step in the future.

Nader Subaih Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - this is old

polydrafter Says:

May 23, 2012 - Crap.

crapmanism Says:

May 24, 2012 - Sorry guys but it seems that you have not even an Understanding what Web 2.0 is if you post here such a video. Your definition approach of Web 3.0 has definately nothing to do with communicating of machines and semantic software. Communicating of machines is as old as the first radio / telephone transmission.

zsewq55912 Says:

May 24, 2012 - and than the undernet will come

iloatheyoutoo Says:

May 24, 2012 - Air is 3D... Also the internet is a very physical thing, while not viewable in that state it is a system of modems, fiber optic and copper wires and servers. The internet IS an actual web, its not just a figure of speech. Also with newer wireless connections this is still physical connection via waves of energy; radio, blutooth, wifi) also soon the internet will run off on a nano scale making 0&1 a thing of the past as one nano scale atom can have many different states than yes (1) or no(0). :D
