Mar 8, 2012 - because a lot of people today do not use a analog recording process.

Mar 11, 2012 - hi BadEditPro! I would like to ask you one question. Do you use a sponge to clean the vinyl or you immerse the vinyl in the water?

BadEditPro Says:

Mar 12, 2012 - Mostly just the wet sponge but don't ring it out. You want it to get really wet to flush the dirt out. Make sure to get it dry as quickly. You don't want the water to dry on the record at all. You want to get it off before it does. :) JC

Mar 25, 2012 - the old AR belt driven turntable from the 1980's are a good buy off of EBAY.

CrashMarket Says:

Apr 1, 2012 - I have had bad luck with used belt drives so if you get another belt drive, get one that is a reputable brand and restored or a new one.A used Direct Drive is good like a Technics ,Sansui, Pioneer and Sony and it will be way more accurate than a used belt drive that will be way out of speed pitch..Denon has a new DD that is about 2 grand ..

fendergibs Says:

Apr 1, 2012 - actually the most expensive turntable is from Goldmound 300K & Rockport system III sirus about 160K and a few others in that range way above the 12k price quoted here

Apr 18, 2012 - hi JCgreat videos man. I have a question for you if you don't mind - I have a Audio Technica AT- LP 120 turntable (best I could get on my budget:)) with a AT120E cartridge. Now I am looking for a great stereo Receiver to go with this setup, as well as a good pair of Speakers! Any Suggestions? I was looking at the TEAC AG790 receiver and a pair of MISSION MV4 speakers so far, and would really appreciate your input. Much appreciated

BadEditPro Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - Thanks. I've heard good things about the TEAC AG790 but nothing at all about the speakers you mentioned. They look good, though. :) JC

MrVenom5150 Says:

Much appreciated

BadEditPro Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - The q900 is a p-mount. If you get it I recognized the AT92ECD. It's almost as good as the at120e. :) JC

MrVenom5150 Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - Thanks J.C. pardon my ignorance but what's the q900? also what about the counterweight settings and anti skate settings for the AT92ECD cartridge on the Technics SL-Q300?

BadEditPro Says:

May 3, 2012 - Do you like it? I'm considering getting one but I'm only 14 and can't decide whether to get one of those or saving for a Pro-Ject.

Nrgzrbunny777 Says:

May 3, 2012 - That is sad but true. lol

SiriusXAim Says:

May 11, 2012 - To clean them, I use a sweet paper cloth like Cleanex, and glass cleaning fluid. This vid is awesome Btw.Here's an other advise, Go to a photography shop and buy a very very soft brush or Blower Brush (natural hair). Then, just put the record on the turntable, start the platter put the brush against the record, pointing against the rotation of the record, and it will collect the dust like magic. It won't work on very dirty records tough...

VonneVinyl Says:

May 19, 2012 - I'm loving this vid, as a vinyl collector myself, this was very well explained

socksumi Says:

May 20, 2012 - There is nothing inherently superior about direct drive over belt drive. Belt drive lends itself to better isolation and a superior main bearing whereas direct drive relies on the motor spindle as the main bearing and no isolation from the motor. Back in the 70s Linn Sondek taught us the importance of the main bearing, rigidity, resonance control and isolation when it decisively wiped the floor in A--B comparisons with vast bulk of Japanese direct drives of the day.

socksumi Says:

May 20, 2012 - Dude---your advice to wash records in tap water and soap is bad advice unless you want the mineral residue of typical city hard tap water left on the records. Distilled soft water is better as long as it contains no contaminants. Drying the record is actually where most of the damage is done. Using an inexpensive vacuum dryer for records works better than a cloth which can and will cause microscopic scratches on the groove walls of the delicate vinyl.

Redhotsmasher Says:

May 29, 2012 - *adds to favorites* Gotta remember this whenever I decide to get a better turntable. Also, an effective way of cleaning vinyl records (NOT SHELLACK (78's)) is to use wood glue, as wood glue does not adhere to vinyl. Simply coat the disc with a thin layer of wood glue, let it dry and peel it off. Squeaky clean record. Never actually tried that myself (I intend to though) but a lot of people are claiming it works and there's a ton of YouTube videos demonstrating it as well.
