May 21, 2012 - what a bunch of crap, i am one to raise an eye brow, but Google is one of the big giants that was against the CIA and FBI from looking at peoples info, even to the point of having a court order force Google in giving them access, as for giving us better text ads yes I see that is true, all ads sent to me are based on my internet portfolio that Google has on me nothing else, Google is making money on its ads by giving me ads that I may find useful.

May 23, 2012 - While it IS true that Google possesses massive quantities of power with the knowledge (and technically size), i think that they cannot completely take over people's information. the first dividing barrier are age old contracts on protecting people's rights (i don't know about specifics), the second, is that if Google for whatever reason became corrupt, and similar to fascism, became a sort of secret police, there are places people can escape.

May 23, 2012 - Look at facebook. the reason it's so useful is because of mass numbers. they concentrate thousands of people on one site, where they can interact, and facebook can make profit. Facebook dosen't really protect privacy, and sell people out for money. it's all about data. if one person knew everything about everyone in, say, America, they would become extremely powerful, because they can pretty much spy without spying directly.

May 29, 2012 - Well, nothing new here. The NSA has been collecting this information for years at enormous cost (how much? - Billions that do not make it to public records). At least Google is making a profit, and not using taxes to fund itself. Foreign intelligence services regularly troll Facebook and other social network sites to build profiles on people - Google at least attempts to keep your information, and does not give it to foreign intelligence!!
