I have no doubt Thin Lizzy was metal,Go find a live recording, add a live audience and sound and you'll be surprised how many seemingly non-metal bands sound metal. In the end metal is easy, but to rock isn't.

Apr 27, 2012 - What a fantastic band. Their albums from this period still sound amazing today. I was lucky to see them live in '77 at their peak. The snarling twin lead guitar in a Lizzy live show was powerful AND dreamy melodic.

May 1, 2012 - quit being a music nazi. There are big debates whether the Beatles did the 1st metal song with Helter Skelter or was it Steppen wolf with that "Heavy metal thunder" quote. Why doesn't people give it to Hendrix with feedback distortion and turning his guitar into a voice. Then somebody will say Lou Rawls did that in 1962 or what about Maggie's farm by Bob Dylan electric blues guitar over a folk song that sounds like Led Zeplin. It could go on and on with somebody saying LES PAUL!

May 2, 2012 - VH1 put Thin Lizzy in the Hard Rock category and put Matalica in the thrash metal bracket. Bands are easily inspired and you have to remember Thin Lizzy is early 70s while Metalica is early 80s inspiration takes many corners. Its like the Ramones said they were fans of the Stooges inspired by New York Dolls and set there beat and stances from Beach Boys and also Joey mentions the Who and the Ronnets. Does any of those groups sound alike, No but do you get my point? Its all Rock and Roll....to me

May 6, 2012 - I still remember being very sad at Phil's tragic demise back when I was a teen. Apparently the ambulance and hospital staff were gobsmacked when they found out that the victim was indeed Lynott - he'd hit the heroin so hard....God rest ya Lad.....
