Jan 6, 2012 - when the referee says "release" or "stop" you do it asap, usually when refs give out the disengage call sign they're already in a position to catch/hold the fighter. I'm a Machida fan and didn't like what I saw, however, this is not the 1st time I've seen it happen in a MMA fight. If anyone has a problem with it, its either they're in denial or they are new to the sport.

Jan 10, 2012 - Good point sir.
jonremache Says:
Jan 10, 2012 - Lol. That what you're complaining about?
jonremache Says:
Jan 10, 2012 - Henderson will most likely try to knock him out. Jones on the other hand can win by KO, TKO, Submission, Decision.
andrewmcross Says:
Jan 10, 2012 - well the position he was in it would be tough to lightly let him down bc the cage was holding him up plus Jones just let go he didint go out of his way or threw him like wht could he have done??? that is a very weak argument epically when u c fighters knock out the other then jump on him with another punch right after on a regular basis. there was nothing in it ur just looking for a reason to dis like him
MrWolfman1977 Says:
Jan 12, 2012 - I'm not a Jones fan you're right. He doesn't make himself very likeable in all fairness
MrWolfman1977 Says:
Jan 12, 2012 - your mum
MrWolfman1977 Says:
Jan 12, 2012 - I love MMA and do it myself amateur level and like to see safety first really. He dropped Machida on his face and swagged away. Watch the clip again, you'll see what I mean. It pissed me off and I hope he gets it done to him soon.
MrWolfman1977 Says:
Jan 12, 2012 - If you like him that's fine. It's only opinion on here. We can't all agree.
CliftonBrookshire Says:
Jan 13, 2012 - I'm not defending him because I'm a fan one way or another. I just don't think that's disrespectful. I think that there alot of people that don't like Jon Jones because of the same reasons people don't like alot of people who are successful. I'll ask again, what was he supposed to do? Cradle him down to the ground? It's not the other fighters responsibility to do that, its the refs.
jonremache Says:
Jan 13, 2012 - Thanks for making my point.
TheNaturalRush28 Says:
Jan 17, 2012 - thank u i couldnt agree more, his striking is so overrated, it only looks so amazing because he always fights shorter fighters and does flashy stuff that hardly ever lands anyone that knows anything about stand up would know that jones standup is average at best
andrewmcross Says:
Jan 18, 2012 - ya no dis respect but idont see how he dose not make himself likeable. i mean ya he dus seem to have this cockyness to him buti think it is just a lot of confedence.his only loss was a accedental dq. he has not even been in trouble in or outside the cage he is the youngest champ and he is droping top fighters like steping stooles like it is got to be very hard for him to be humble and i think he dose a good job of it plus he shows a lot of respect for the sport and others.
redeyestint Says:
Jan 21, 2012 - Machida wouldn't act, so jon had to mess around which led himself open multiple times to get hit, jon is a crowd pleaser, in the end no surprise machida went down like a sack of bricks
saiguy1986 Says:
Jan 21, 2012 - Yeah, but Jones had 10 inches of reach on Machida. Ever boxed before? Also how many people have ever hit Jones like that? He may have won the first round, but Machida did a hell of a job and I'm proud of him for never giving up.
claudiodz Says:
Jan 22, 2012 - You disrespect Machida and every professional fighter by trying to use Jones' reach as an excuse for his loss. There have been many fighters in all levels of professional fighting from boxing to mma to k1 that have had major reach advantages and have not had anywhere near the level of success that Jones is having. You are coming across as not a true Machida fan but merely a Jones haters when you stoop to such claims. If machida accepts the loss then so should you.
saiguy1986 Says:
Jan 23, 2012 - Whoa, I never said that Jones' reach was his excuse for Machida's loss. All I said was that Machida must have some good skills to be able to compete with someone that much taller. It's not Jones' fault that he had a reach advantage, but he did have one. Not saying that's why he won, just stating the facts. I know Machida lost, and I don't hate Jones.
masteroflife777 Says:
Jan 29, 2012 - What a great champion..
SirMicDre Says:
Feb 6, 2012 - The soon to be GOAT! WAR BONES!!!
dontae562 Says:
Feb 19, 2012 - Well if Machida deserves credit for competing with a reach disadvantage then Mike Tyson must be the the greatest fighter of all times because he was 5'11 and and everyone he faced was 5 to 8 inches taller then him and he destroyed them, not only that but Tim Silva was 6'8 and was nowhere near as good as Jones, and 5'10 Evans beat 6'3 Forrest as well , i have many more examples but i think u get the point
dontae562 Says:
Feb 19, 2012 - If having a reach was that effective, than Shaqueal O'neal would be the G.O.A.T lol, if u noticed there aren't too many extremely tall champs in mma because normally with those long arms and legs they have problems w cordination, not only that but in mma if u take someone to the ground then the height and reach is pretty much gone. This is why they have Weight classes and not reach OR HEIGHT CLASSES
RobinHood0919 Says:
Feb 20, 2012 - @mrwolfman1977 I can see your point about the sportsmanship, being the way he did drop Machida, but I think that's only in question BECAUSE it was Machida. Seeing the kind, fan loved Lyoto Machida (my personal favorite fighter) dropped like that was like watching Anakin cut off Mace Windus arm (lol), heartbreaking. But that IS the sport, the state of mind of a fighter in a cage against a quality opponent NEEDS to be violent in nature. JBJS is an amazing athlete and a badasssss mofo.

Jan 6, 2012 - Well Forrest is definitely bigger but I doubt james irvin was bigger than silva at all. He moved down to middleweight after but then moved to light heavyweight after that fight.
