Added: Oct 28, 2006
Author: Proculled
Duration: 2:49
Description:
From their farewell concert at the BBC in London July 7 1968."The carnival is over"Not until 1993 did they get together again with Judith as a lead singer. They then more or less performed concerts together until 2004.But the years are moving on for all of us and they have retired for good now as a group after having their last tour summer of 2004.Their last ever concert was in Hong Kong October 8th 2004.Keith Potger, Judith Durham and Athol Guy still perform in Australia as solo artists. But as they have said themselves:"Never say never"they are to tour in May 2011 with Andre Rieu in Australia. The lyrics for "The Carnival is over" was written by Tom Springfield and the melody is based on a old Russian folk song.Judith had to put up a real fight to getthis song recorded as the boys rather wouldrecord another song called "Hummingbird"instead. But she got her will and it was recorded first time in 1965.At it's peak this single record was selling 90,000 copies a day in the UK.

Apr 16, 2012 - Her voice is haunting. They don't make simple songs any more. They're all rappin about sex and violence. Yes I'm getting old and long for the more simple things in life!

Apr 17, 2012 - Their music brings tears to my eyes. I find their music that beautiful. This is one of my favorites by them. I thank my mum for introducing me to them. If only music these days done this to me. Not even out of my teen years yet, but there is nothing that brings more joy to my life than old songs like this. I just shut my eyes and dream
vintagerosenz Says:
Apr 17, 2012 - @takethatanonymois I agree with you. I'm a teenager, but I don't like any of the singers out now. I'm nearly not a teen anymore in a month, but never did I take to any songs out now. They don't move me, I don't cry to them..do absolutely nothing to me. Only one artist I like that is more 'now' is Celine Dion

May 22, 2012 - I was born in 67 but was so blessed to have seen the Seekers live in 1993 on the lawns by the sea on a warm evening in Darwin. Ever since I have been a devotee and know all the words to all the songs on the CD they released around that time.

May 27, 2012 - I'm 15, but still I like this type of music better than most songs now days. I also love how she wears nice dresses, but she keeps her body covered. Often I wish I lived in the old days. Farm life & old music to me, is a million times better than city life, half naked people, and the music now days.I do like some new music, but mostly I don't.
Günter Fricke Says:
May 28, 2012 - a wonderfull song from one of best groups of the world. Judith has a WONDERTFULL voice. Thanks for loading

scuzzydirtbag Says:
Mar 25, 2012 - Notice how Judith's expression changes from that in the other songs of the concert. Her smile is pretty much gone as she looks out at the expressions on the faces of those in the audience. I'm not sure it is something she feels or it's her reaction to the audience. She has since commented that there were tears running down the faces of those in the audience. I wonder.
