Mildred Pierce (1945) This documentary is included on the DVD of Mildred Pierce. It is a biography about Joan Crawford and this is the Mildred Pierce segment. They discuss how Crawford received the role and what happened on Oscar night. I'm posting this in honor of the Mini Series "Mildred Pierce" that will be starring Kate Winslet (MY FAVORITE ACTRESS). I'm very excited to see it this March. I hope an Emmy is in Kate's future (She'll be 3/4 from an EGOT if she does- she has a Grammy and Oscar already)I don't post entire movies, but if anyone wants me to post a scene or clip up from this or almost any other 1930s/40s film - i would be happy to do so.

Dec 18, 2011 - MrC, I am a HUGE Crawford fan, probably one of the biggest since I know about every single thing there is to know about her, but I don't understand why so many people don't see Christina's side. It must have been hell for her. In Joan's defense, people of her generation were not exposed, growing up, to TV and computers and information. They had different ideas of raising children. I believe Joan's intentions were good but let emotions rule over wisdom too many times.

Feb 8, 2012 - I believe Joan was probably a disciplinarian and a hard-ass, but I do not for one second believe Christina's operatically melodramatic tales of abuse.Christina resented Joan, pure and simple, and she wrote that book because it was both a way to cash in AND extract her spiteful revenge.
